Hermes Un Jardin Sur le Nil is very fresh & tropical.
Thread: Fragrance for a 'Sweaty Betty'
My best friend has asked me to recommend a fragrance for her. To give you an indication of what she likes - her favourite smells 'out of the bottle' are Chance, Tresor, Promesse, SJP Lovely and JPG Classique. Her problem with these is that they don't really stay 'fresh' on her but tend to become musky and 'dirty' smelling after a while. Considering that she naturally perspires a lot and has problems with sweaty feet etc and works in a humid climate, she wants a fragrance that she can refresh herself with often and one that is neither a soapy 'deoderant' type smell nor too overpowering. She is 28 yrs old, dark hair, green eyes, athletic build. I can't think of anything myself, so I thought I'd put it to you experts out there! Any suggestions??
Many thanks for all/any input!
Good suggestion, Kumquat. I wonder whether she would like one of the Marc Jacobs splash scents. What about Chanel Cristalle?
Thank you both for your thoughtful suggestions, I will get her to try them.
My next question probably deserves a thread of its own but I (as someone who doesnt know a great deal about perfume) just want to ask your opinion with regards to this particular topic - do you think 'linear' fragrances are good if you want 'freshness' in your fragrance?
I think a lot of fragrances that are classified as "fresh" are linear, but a lot of those fragrances have musks in them. I wonder which ingredient is turning musky and/or dirty on your friend. It would be good to know so you can avoid it. It could be patchouli, or amber, or...???
He could try EL Pleasures again it has musks but the fresh sparkly aldehydic florals hang around a long time and stay that way
Hermes Un Jardin Sur la Nil +1. No doubt. A must.
Acqua di Gioia is minty & lemony-fresh, & very long-lasting for a citrus.
l find Virgin lsland Water very refreshing on a hot sweaty day at work.

She should try Lush's "Dirty". It is hyped to be used when you haven't had time to shower. Even if you showered but still sweat a lot, I think it would be good.
MI from Creed - i know is usually males that wear it but it is very refreshing and smells great on "some" girls
Guerlain Cologne du Parfumeur, refreshing without being sharp or high-pitched.

Hmm, IO like citrusy scents in humid, hot weather:
Victor Green tea (refreshing, bright lemony green tea)
Caron Eau de Reglisse (gourmand with a bit of vanilla, but also has bright citrus and spicy ginger)
Clinique Happy (cirtrus, a bit floral, herbally)
Aqua Allegoria Pampelune (bright grapefruit, the patch is green more than dirty, but it's a love or hate scent)
If the goal is to hide the sweat and smell pretty ... I'm thinking Annick Goutal would have several fragrances that could handle the job: eau d' hadrien, eau de ciel, Duel, etc.
For an exuberant, zesty juicy, fun citrus, what about Diptyche's Oyedo.
But then another approach is just to go with the sweat, stop the denial and go full force with something like FM's Musc Ravageur or maybe an earthy vetiver.

What about the Chanel Exclusif Eau de Cologne?
