Default Do you wear fragrances with matching grooming products?(deodorant, shower gel, aftershave, etc)?

Deodorant, shower gel, aftershave, body lotion, moisturizer, etc, do you match with your fragrances?

I do like to wear matching grooming products when im wearing the fragrance.
I have some matching random deodorants.
Terre dHermes i have almost a full set (edt, parfum, shower gel and after shave balm).
Brut i have the full set (Shaving Cream, After Shave Splash, Deodorant and Cologne Splash)
I radiate Brut for some time

Yeah im a bit of a completist too though I don't bother with moisturizers or deodorant, at least not from the same line. I've got full lines from the likes of aramis, penhaligons, floris, and loccitane, today the weather was surprisingly warm so I was wearing an English Fern combo of soap, talc, shaving soap, after shave splash, and the EDT. No doubt I smell like a tarts handbag.

I wish I could but most of these matching products are way too overpriced when bought separately. Gift packs are the way to go but most of my favourite fragrances don't come in gift packs and so I'll stick with my adidas and axe shower gels till I get rich!

I occasionally use marching aftershave balm but avoid the deodorants, as they generally seem to be of low quality.

I don't tbh, as for the deodorant I try and use something not over powering

I particularly like matching soaps, deodorants and shower gels, so I have some of those.

I have a few sets and really enjoy the Brit shower gel. Most are just more for fun and enjoyment than anything else and very pricey. From a practical point of view I don't think they warrant the price.

I really like to use matching aftershaves. I've used many and found that Cartier makes the best (Roadster).

I agree that some of them are overpriced, but, hell, Terre dHermes Shower Gel and After Shave Balm smells divine!
But not all of them, Brut line has a great quality, enhances the fragrance with a more than fair price.

Loccitane have affordable prices for their quality, im thinking in get the whole Eau des Baux line

    What a great combo!

I agree that non scented moisturizers and deodorants are better and versatile, but its nice to match with the fragrances.

Some deodorants dont smell like the fragrance, and smells very cheap, but the majority complete the fragrance entirely.

If Caron produced a range of products for Le Troisieme...I'd be a happy man.

I would especially like a bar soap in that fragrance, but don't want to pay whatever the ungodly price of it is on eBay.

    Not really.

I prefer using shea butter soaps and dedicated moisturizers.

Not unless they are basically free with a gift set. Though i found some Rive Gauche shampoo/body wash that is one of the best ive ever tried.

Yes, but usually when I can get the matching items cheap or in a gift set, or I mix up a matching aftershave balm myself (three squirts of EDT into a small amount of fragrance neutral balm, like Nivea for men Extra Sensitive)

The practice you describe is called "layering" everywhere else in the world, except here. By using small amounts of shower gel applied and rinsed off just before jumping out of the shower, leads to an extra layer of scent that comes out hours later. With aftershave, you have a layer coming out quickly and prominently in front of you.

By contrast, very often here, people describe "layering" as mixing two different scents together. Which is incorrect, as that is mixing.

Grant described this practice of layering in the FAQ section of Basenotes when I first joined, though I already knew it having been told about by several women in the prefume section of department stores.

I prefer high quality after shave products and neutral scented deo sticks and deo sprays.

The after shaves and deodorant from the makers of frags are quite often poorly made over priced junk TBH

I use Clinique Post Shave Healer, Musgo Real After Shave Balm, Edwin Jagger Aloe Vera After Shave Balm - you know high quality products made by people with Shaving as their first preference.

I use bathing products made by Osmose & Clunique - two companies specialising in these kind of products - not some fragrance maker with a flanker of low quality shower gel and deo stick just to copy the scent of the EDT

If you drive a Ferrari, you also want your tires and in-car GPS & stereo system to be made by Ferrari ?

    No freakin' way !

I find that some of the matching grooming products are just way too expensive to justify buying them. Take, for example, Creed (seeing as there is a post about using Creed soaps in the grooming section)

So a 75ml bottle of Creed costs £135 GBP yet a 200ml shower gel costs £58. Work it out, the shower gel with daily use might last a month or 2. The EDT, with average daily use could last up to......... well a year/2 years depending on how much you apply.

The grooming products just don't command the price for me I'm afraid. Sure if I could afford it and money meant nothing to me I may fill a bathroom full of the same brand however I find mix and match is more fun.

The only exception I have for this would be matching EDT and Aftershave splash used in conjunction so that you don't have scent clashes.

Nope. I like variety. I'd probably tire of a fragrance quickly if I shaved and showered with it, put on the matching deodorant and then used the cologne.

I often wear, instead of matching products, simply unscented deodorants, so they don't clash with any fragrance

Whenever I get a kit I will try and match them up, but have noticed the deodorants are usually weak and don't work well.

I only do this with Habit Rouge - All Over Shampoo, Deo Spray, Aftershave Balm, EdC, EdT.

I have shower gels of a few others. I'm getting some Mitsouko soap, too.
