Still acquainting myself with M.Micallef'sYellow Sea. A very easy-going citrus oriental with just enough castoreum in the base to make it interesting.
Have a lovely Sunday, everyone.

Stormy here, too, but without your sand, hedonist!
Thank you all for your get-well wishes! Things seem to be improving further.
My SotD is Henri Almeras' (Patou) masterpiece Moment Supreme, vintage extrait. Top notes and all amazingly preserved, I can clearly smell the lavender now and the rich and opulent basenotes lurking in the background. This is when I love wearing vintage perfumes, in stunningly fresh condition.
Best to all & extra warm thoughts for all, who are not well at the moment. Time for fruit and fruit juice for breakfast now!

Well, I blind bought Fancy Nights by Jessica Simpson. I read reviews and for 12 bucks..I thought, why not? Normally, I really don't like or waste time with celeb scents..just not my thing. I dig this though. I can't stand the original Fancy or any other in her Fancy line..but this one is worth buying if one sees it for cheap. It initially has that strong, chemically note, similar to what is found in the original Fancy..that I can NOT stand. But in this juice it's not as bad. Not as chemically as the original Fancy. Or at least, in this fume it seems to mesh better because of the composition. In the original, I just can't get passed that horrible chemical note. Fancy is just one really bad fume IMHO. This one is very masculine, very much patchouli at first. Not my favorite opening really. But give it a while, and viola! A pretty, powdery aroma. Picked up on the vanilla, oakmoss, jasmine, patchouli right away when first sniffing this. Worth the blind buy, for sure. And I totally dig that lovely, emerald green bottle with the gold top. Mysterious, unique..nice to have in my collection. Reminds me of Covet a bit by SJP on some aspects..the originality, the vibe. But I like this one more than the Covet. If you like Covet, more than likely, you will like this fume.

Good morning all !. Belated birthday greetings to Donna - hope you had a great day.
Another day, another new purchase . SotD is Ormonde Jayne Orris Noir.
Sunday wouldn't be Sunday without a contribution from W.A .....
I've smelled it (EDP and parfum extrait) on several occasions and I could not get more than a faint whiff of something fragrant.
At one point I thought the testers were off so the SA opened up new packages of the EDP and extract. Still nothing.
Frustrating because they had them on sale for 65% off.
Sunday message for Mrs Q
Please come back to this thread ASAP - you are conspicuous by your absence .

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Loved the L'Eau Boisee on a paper spill. How does it wear on the skin?
Scentless so far today other than the whispering remains of last nights Poison Esprit de Parfum.

Hello all. Wearing Daphne Guinness today again.
Afternoon all. Chinatown for me today. Don't like the initial fruity waxiness of this one, but love the peachy drydown.
Hope you are enjoying your Sunday.
Good morning. Smell Bent She Wolf today. This is the sister to the Horny Little Devil, vanilla not cinnamon but they have the same dad, LOL.
Hello everyone -
I'm in L'Instant de Guerlain this morning ...counting on its radiant and warm magnolias to brighten this grey day up a bit. Y'all have a wonderful day!

Science is not only compatible with spirituality, it is a profound source of spirituality. When we recognize our place in an immensity of light-years and in the passage of ages, when we grasp the intricacy, beauty, and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling, that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual. ..Carl Sagan

Kalli, I love that Fancy Nights green & gold bottle. I haven't tried the scent yet, but a couple of Basenoters here have recommended it. I didn't care for the original either. I know what you mean about that chemical quality - can't quite get past that here either.
Hedonist, that's so interesting about the sandy air. Do you have to wear something over your nose and mouth when it's like that? We get lots of fog here, but no sand.
Sending out a big (((hug))) to Quarry. We love you and look forward to seeing you back when you have more time.
Glad to hear you're on the mend, Larimar.
Scent of the early morning was Cartier Panthère Eau Légère. SotA is Jo Malone's new White Lilac & Rhubard, from a decant sent by a very sweet Basenoter. It's nice! To my nose, the rhubard is quite restrained, which I like, and the lilac seems a bit stemmy to me, and it reminds me of a spring bulb, hyacinth I think, although that's not listed. Just this morning's impression.
I hope everybody is enjoying their day/afternoon/evening. xo

Now in ELdO Rien from a sample. Liking this quite a lot once the cheap hairspray top notes have flown I get a full on salty leather. Bit like licking your top lip after a cross country gallop when both you and the horse have a lather on. A proper "butch" scent
I don't get anything terribly chemical from FN but really can't compare it to Fancy as it was too sweet on paper for me to try on skin (hence Fancy is not even listed in my tried list, I reserve that for scents I have tried on skin). Those who have worn Fancy may pick up on more similarities than I can. I'm just amazed at how very well done Fancy Nights is- no surprise to me that it doesn't seem to have done well with the usual target demographic it must have been aimed at. And yes, I love that green & gold bottle, too! If only her name wasn't on the label (lol, I'm really no fan of Jess), it would be perfect!
Larimar, glad to hear you're improving, hang in there, dear!
Yes, I miss you too, Quarry! Lots of love to you!
The nose wants what it wants!
SotD is another layering experiment with White Lilac & Rhubarb over Côté Bastide Tilleul. This works nicely, too.
