Default looking for a masculine le labo

first post and looking at getting some samples of le labo scents and wanting to know if any of them are more masculine than others, any help would be appreciated. cant get to any stores that have them in my area but want to try some as want a couple of manly niche scents.

In order: Santal 33, Vetiver 46, Rose 31, Patchouli 24, and Oud 27. If you like lighter/fresher styles, you might also consider Neroli 36.

Rose 31 is probably their biggest crowdpleaser masculine. The Patch and the Oud are more challenging; I like the Patch a lot (though it's taken some time to grow on me) and am less a fan of the Oud.
Recently Worn: Lys Mediteranée, Songe d'Un Bois d'Été, Vero Profumo Kiki, Escentric 02, Vetiver Tonka, Pear+Olive, Encens et Bubblegum, Vanille Galante, Harrods Oud, Sel Marin, Turtle Vetiver Back, Le Vetiver de Lubin - Bluff, Osmanthe Yunnan, Rive Gauche Pour Homme, El Attarine

I don't get any of them as particularly feminine. That being said Vetyver 46, Santal 33 and Rose 31 are probably the most appropriate choice...

Brian has pretty much covered them all, so I'll second Vetiver 46 (more cedar and frankincense than vetiver), Rose 31 (the rose is very subdued), Patchouli 24 (think Bulgari Black deluxe) and Oud 27 (a tamer version of Montale's Oud Cuir d'Arabie).

hmm seems like ill be sampling the Santal 33, Vetiver 46 and Rose 31, will leave the Patchouli 24 for later as not keen on Bulgari Black.

As others have said, they're all suitable for men. I would suggest Iris 39, a green-rooty iris that's perfect for the upcoming spring.

I find only Vetiver 46 to be a "masculine" scent.

Others like Oud, patchouli and Santal feel unisex to me.

Santal 33 is AMAZING!!! Not my idea of totally masculine because of the coconut sweet vibe it gives off but the leather accord is absolutely PERFECT!!! Definitely worth trying out.

    +1 to what Brian said
Tom Ford Splits!!!! - Tobacco Vanille, Tuscan Leather, Oud Wood, Noir de Noir - PATCHOULI ABSOLU
Plum Japonais, Italian Cypress, Neroli Portofino, Costa Azzura, Azure Lime, Champacca Absolute

HARD TO FIND - Lavender Palm, Arabian Wood, and AMBER ABSOLUTE, etc...

Most of the time I am very proud of the Basenotes community. Time after time I have witnessed the thoughtfulness, empathy & genuine friendship that members of this community extend to others - oldtimers & newcomers alike. There are other times, however, when egos get the upper hand and civility goes out the window. My philosophy is that I won't say anything here that I would not say if you were standing in front of me. Welcome to Basenotes, each and every one of us. ~ TwoRoads

Santal 33 is my favorite of the Le Labo line, but also easily masculine, given its saddle-leather vibe. Not that women couldn't wear it -- they certainly could.

I have Patchouli 24 and Bulgari Black. I don't find them all that similar.

+1, not similar apart from being smokey. There's some floral notes under Patch 24 that really push it in a different direction too.

A the OP, I find this house to be one of the most truly unisex houses. I wouldn't classify any of them as particularly masculine or feminine.

    Same here.
Rather very interesting to compare Patchouli 24/ XIII Heure by Cartier ..

I find Le Labo unisex scents, maybe a bit more "masculine" Rose 31 and Vetiver 46, more "feminine" Ambrette 9, Labdanum 18. Imo Patchouli 24 opens "masculine" but ends "feminine"

My best Vanille 44, Santal 33.

    Curious about your choice, primarily:welcome!

I agree ... I would steer away from Santal 33 - too sweet, and Oud 27 is just plain repulsive ...

Thinking of going for Vetiver 46 as quite like the note breakdown and seen it slightly discounted online but will still sample a couple and then advise if I decide to buy one, really glad people have advised which ones they find slightly unisex as these dont really fit the purpose for my work events.

Vetiver 46 is very good but you should try Comme des Garcons 2 Man. Almost the same, less expensive.

I never thought a rose scent could be masculine, but rose 31 is a rose with testicles, no question.

I would definitely sample before just pulling the trigger. Vetiver 46 is a complicated composition. I love it, but I think Santal 33 or Rose 31 are better blind-buy candidates.

I wouldn't get hung up on the unisex bit. Neroli, Iris, Labdanum are where you start crossing the line. I think those are also great scents that I personally would wear; but I would not recommend them to someone who is looking for a masculine scent.

Fragrances this expensive you should really sample em first. Try Rose 31 and Vetiver 46. Oud 27 and Patchouli ## are over the top of "masculine" as a description in my opinion. My favorite is Poivre 23 but it can only be had in London, I think.

Santal 33 is great. But beware, it is an acquired taste and has nuclear strenght imo. The only fragrance that has garnered me some negative comments.
