Midnight in Paris
Hello,
I am looking to buy a perfume that is long lasting (6+ hours minimum) and something newly released. Nothing too old from stone age like fahrenheit, drakkar, cool water etc.
Perhaps something released after 2010 or so.
I am 32 years old and I will be wearing this perfume to work everyday so I need something easy on the nose and smells fresh.
To give you guys an idea of smells I like, in the past I used perfumes like Angel for men, Versace dreamer, Jean paul gartier, dolce gabbana for men and enjoyed every one of them.
Jean paul an dolce gabana for men were my favorites.
Lookin to spend $80 to $180
Midnight in Paris
Welcome!
After 2010 is quite a requirement, but I guess you mean "not a 1980s powerhouse". And I guess the "fresh" requirement excludes leathers, which to me are the genre with the best persistence. (Rien, Knize Ten)
Vetivers are very fresh but are usually persistent (unlike other fresh substances that are gone in no time). Perhaps Sycomore by Chanel, a fresh vetiver with a touch of woods and smoke (Encre Noire would be in the same style, though I find it a little sharper and synthetic than Sycomore).
If you take the 2010 requirement strictly, there's $$$ Portrait of a lady, a rose-patchouli that still feels very modern and clean (within the price range for the 50ml but not for the 100ml bottle).

Would Aventus by Creed fall in the criteria?
What you guys think about this one?
The 2011 batches of Aventus supposedly all last a long time. My 2011 batch lasted 13 hours.

3. Vicks Vapor Rub
4. Febreze Pour Homme
5. Preferred Stock
I just ordered a 2.5 oz bottle of Aventus by Creed from buy.com
they have it on sale for $193.
It has very high ratinngs and everyone speaks very higly of this one so I had to give it a try.
Thanks everyone for their recommendations.
I will post what I think about this one later on after I try it on.
Please get back with us when you've had a couple full wearings. I think a lot of people miss understand me. Just because I don't wear something doesn't mean I can't recommend for you. It was a safe blind buy because you can sell it here on Basenotes in an hour if you don't like it.

good choice ... a wonderful experience awaits you![]()
How could I tell which batch I bought?
I just put it on this morning.. Sprayed 3 times.. my first thoughts is it smells very much like drakkar at first (which i think is for older people, i m 32) didnt smell anything fruity like how people describe it on here. I was a bit dissapointed at first but my wife did like the smell so thats good I guess
Its been about 2 hours since i sprayed it on and I am at work, I can still smell it on me so it definitely stays on and it doesnt smell like drakkar anymore.
Frederic Malle Granium Pour Homme
Chanel Platinum Egoiste - smells like it was made in 2013, next year
Chanel Allure Homme - timeless designer masterpiece IMHO (though a lot of BN'ers hate this and find it - at best - ordinary)
Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme - longevity is only problem here, some don't get more than 5-6 hours.
Creed Green Irish Tweed - a more refined version of Cool Water, not as fresh though, but smells expensive
Creed Aventus
Creed Silver Mountain Water
Creed Himalaya
Guerlain L'Instant de Guerlain Extreme
Bond No. 9 Bleeker Street
Bond No. 9 Chez Bond - unisex version of Cool Water, very nice
Frapin L'Humaniste
Lolita Lempicka au Masculine Winter/Lolita Lempicka au Masculine Fraicheur or L'eau version/Summer
Mont Blanc Individuel - smells like Creed Original Santal, very close, closer than GIT & Cool Water
