Default Experience of Tolu balsam and peru balsam needed please

I have peru balsam but my recipe requires Tolu balsam.

    Note thread suggests these:-

    Tolu :-
synthetic, Eden Botanicals Interesting, sweet, strong cinnamon-like amber.
rich and resinous with a lot a vanilla and cinnamon developing after some time. and
sweet, sort of like vanilla extract with a hint of cinnamon this is intriguing and it is different

    Peru:-
faint, sweet, pine resin, overrripe peach
unknown origin, Eden Botanicals Complex, sweet, woody, dry paper, amber, clashing evergreen or juniper undertones. Im not fond of this one. A bit of urine odor.

Has anyone got a natural Tolu that is a nice one and can you tell me where yours is from please? My trusted sources don't stock it.

I made my amber perfume brew using the Peru and although it doesn't smell bad, it isn't the right thing at all.

I got mine from Hermitage Oils, very sticky and I had to put it in the sunlight to melt it sufficiently to get it out of the bottle to dissolve in alcohol, but nice.
Peru Balsam is now banned by IFRA in perfumery materials. Shame. That's probably why your recipe recommends tolu.

Peru Balsam oil and resin are not banned but severely restricted. Peru Balsam crude is banned.

I found solid Tolu in the end. It smells delightful. Just now have to wait for the tincture. Ask me next year!!!!

The thing about tolu is that in time it develops a fairly strong hyacinth quality alongside the vanilla/cinnamon tones.

whenever you get it, it will usually be liquified with a carrier to begin with

depending on your room temperature at home it may still be near solid

what you should do is just put the bottle in your trouser pocket for 10 mins or so before using, you'll move it up to near body-temp which will make it come out of the dropper reasonably well
