Default Back To Black or Aventus?

Okay, I received my full bottle with the box (Back To Back) today.
I tested it and I really like it.

I can smell good ingredients and this scent is warm, mysterious and precious.
I have to check out the longevity, but the projection seems to be weak and to be decent in contrast to TV or Aventus.

Back To Black is quite similar to Dior Homme Intense. Is there anybody, who thinks the same thing?

Aventus is completely different from Back To Black. So this comparios may make me dummy (You will think) if you read this thread.

But what would you prefer for clubbing, dates or romantic nights?

Aventus is better for versatility, but B2B is good for a more formal night out or event IMO.

I would prefer Back to Black in all situations over Aventus.

I don't know either of these very well but from what I've heard Back to Black appeals to a more mature, sophisticated, and rarified audience (especially women) and seems to be more suited to intimate situations. Aventus is really popular with young American men, teenaged through twenties, and shines in public.

Both are great fragrances. I dont prefer one over the other. BtB for me would be a fall/winter scent as Aventus spring/summer. But both can be worn year round.

I own both and it depends on the occasion. I often go with Aventus for 1st dates or going out because it is "safe", has almost universal appeal with women, and has decent projection so it will get you noticed. I apply VERY sparingly for dates because otherwise it can be too strong. I wear BtB for more intimate occasions, it doesn't project as much as Aventus after the first 30 min or so, but longevity is very good. They are both very different, but both are great frags so I don't think you could go wrong, unless you overapply Aventus...

What would mature women (>30 years old) generally prefer except B2B and Aventus?

My wife loves Aventus, as do many women in her age bracket ("permanently 29", if you understand that little lie... ) She also likes La Nuit de L'Homme, Bleu de Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana the one For Men, Spicebomb, Bulgari Man, Bulgari Black, and a bunch of other things. The only fragrance she truly hates is Kouros - a great fragrance!

I also like to wear Puredistance M on dates and have gotten some very positive reactions from it. I'm 37 and prefer to date women around 30-35 years old. She needs to have the "permanently 29" attitude, I still ski, ride bikes, etc and need someone who's active and likes to go out.

The only issue I have with BtB is that some people just smell baby powder.

2 for 2 people I sampled told me it smelled like baby powder and nothing else. I thought it more of a leather. I'd pick B2B over Aventus, but I'd pick many other things over B2B. Not a fan of Kilian.

If you read the reviews people think it smells like all sorts of things, like cherry pie, robitussin, pipe tobacco, oud, etc. ...but powder is probably the most prevalent scent association with BtB. It definitely hints at powder, but also of many other things. But IMO, that's one of the things that make BtB so great, it is very complex and well blended... definitely one of my favorites.

    Aventus.

I think it also has to do with the age group. I am 27 and am happy with Aventus. That said, I did get a sample of BtB from perfume court. I've gone through about three full wears. It is a nice scent, very classy. I can understand when people would pick BtB over Aventus. However, to me, BtB is slightly feminine for me. I may have to go back and try again, but that was the conclusion back when I tested it.

I may be biased though, I own a 4fl ounce bottle of Aventus and it is more than half gone. It's a very versatile scent, I wear is so much that I feel like I wasted my money on all the other scents I have in my collection.

Aventus. BtB is too powdery and feminine.

Wait a minute! I've heard you praise Noir de Noir, which IMO is far, far more femme than BtB.

But here is the catch...I dont think NdN is femme..

Just sprayed on some Back to Black and it smells amazing up close, but the sillage is all sweet powder. Not my thing.

My observation is this: many women love 'powder'. But they also like 'fresh' on guys.
Aventus is charming in sillage but up close, it's BtB with the greater depth. Imo the two are different enough for you to get both.

Both are great but totally different. I like Aventus more in daytime and maybe more relaxed/feel good type of scent. Back to Black is more evening/night type of elegant, mysterious and seductive scent. If you want think it that way, that Aventus is great for springs/summers and BtB is on its best on autumn and winter. Interesting to compare such a different scents.
