Default Tom Ford Tuscan Leather Private Blend Initial Review

I wore Tuscan Leather today as my SOTD from my sample from the perfume court and I have to say this has Royalty and Class written all over it. The classy leather, tobacco, raspberry note is just superb. This is not your cheap Dirty English type of leather fragrance. When I smell this fragrance, I pictured riding in a Rolls Royce with nice leather seat and smoking a cigar. Sitting with me is a hot English woman like a Kate Middleton sipping on a nice raspberry Grey Goose vodka drink. While I'm puffing away on an expensive cigar cruising around in London in the Rolls Royce. Initial grade for Tuscan Leather = 10/10 Perfect score

I have found this to be very similar to Mark Birley Charles Street, but with a little extra punch for cooler weather.

I wear both, and enjoy TL a great deal. When I wear this, I think of a hot man in buckskin riding breeches, the smell of this horse tack, the subtle scent of his cigar sweetened with berries.

C by Clive Christian is also similar to Tuscan Leather

Insane longevity too. While the raspberry note gets amplified a tad too much in hot & humid climates, I agree Tuscan Leather is well-executed. You should also try Armani Prive Cuir Amethyst for comparison.

Very good, straightforward leather. I am drawn though to more complex ones, Knize Ten, Azuree, Bandit, Rien, etc etc.

I just sold mine today. Great scent, just not worth the money to me when Charles Street has the same effect minus the crazy projection.

Am I the only one that thinks this doesn't smell like new or untainted upholstery leather and fresh tobacco?

To me this smells almost exactly like a leather bound book that had been sitting in my grandparent's house for years exposed to cigarette smoke and some cherry accord. It doesn't smell like freshly tanned leather, fresh unsmoked tobacco, and cherry. It smells like a high quality leather bound book that's been stored in a smoker's house and add some sort of cherry accord to it. At least my sample does.

This doesn't mean it's bad. I love it (though I don't smoke tobacco).

Diamond, I agree that Cuir Amethyste is a marvelous floral leather. Good call.

For some reason, this one is stuck in my memory as being not all that pleasant. And then every time I wear it, I'm reminded of its awesomeness. I think it might be time to wear it again.

One of the best leather frags that actually smell like leather.

I enjoy TL, but IMHO it's nearly identical to Angel Schlesser Essential.

Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford - Upon application, one is immersed in a invigorating leather, quite similiar to new, nubuck shoes, exuding a soft, velvety smell. This wonderful leather appears to be superimposed on a fairly muted, nectarous and fruity cluster of raspberries. Reveling herbs, namely saffron and thyme, push this fruitiness aside, and infuse the leather with their own sweet and peppery as well as lemony and woody aspects. A faint floral sweetness from jasmine begs to be recognized, but succumbs to the nascent, citrus and pine of olibanum. This rich frankincense rises to tug at the supple leather, and in its zeal, a fleeting, terpene note is sensed. As opposition, a sharp woodiness from the amber counters with its own plea for supremancy. The coveted, subtle leather meanwhile basks in its elegance. Albeit somewhat linear, this appealing composition has good longevity and projection.

Way too much overrated stuff. Personally I prefer Charles Street which has a similar overall vibe but it's much more refined...

I guess it's just a matter of points of vew/tastes.

I really like this one and I've tried Clive Christian and that one has a lot more going on but, that isn't a good thing. Tuscan Leather is far more pleasant

It's a lovely fragrance but too linear, too simple and far to expensive for what it is.

I want to love it but every time I test it (I'm wearing it today by coincidence) I feel like there should be more.
To me, most TF's are somewhat like Jo Malone's, they're lovely but I can't escape the feeling that they're not meant to exist on their own and need to be layered to make a complete fragrance.

Tuscan Leather is like quick sex with a raspberry gum chewing model in the back of a new rolls royce in summer with perhaps a little cocaine spilt on the seat. Probably exactly what Tom Ford was aiming for. I love it.

I just got a 3ml roll-on bottle of Surrati's Tom Tuskan Leather perfume oil. It smells VERY similar to Tuscan Leather. Tuscan Leather is slightly sweeter smelling, but they are very close. The projection is very good for a roll-on perfume oil. It's also super cheap. If anybody is a fan of Tuscan Leather but doesn't want to shell out the cash for a bottle, try a sample of Tom Tuskan Leather. It was less than $10 shipped and is enough to wear for a long time.

One of the very reasons that I love fragrance chasing as a hobby...wonderful analogies such as this one quoted above Oh and by the way TL is still in my top 5 ever...love the way it creeps back up on you and reminds you that you dont smell like every other person in the room.

I couldn't agree more, it is my latest purchase and immediately crept into my top five. To me TL is truly masculine and unapologetically so. Rich leather and sharp raspberry detectable 10-12hours after application. Very unique and I have found with a more judicious number if sprays works just as well in the summer.
