Creed Virgin Island Water
Guerlain Vetiver
Started collecting this last fall and winter and would like to add a couple of summer fragrances. The weather here is subtropical . So there is often very very high humidity and hot + 90f weather and sticky. I learned this winter that i absorb fragrances due to my skin type and some fragrances don't last long on me. Hoping the hot weather will remedy my dry skin. I must be part frog because its not that dry here in the winter. So hopefully i'll get better projection and duration this summer without the dry skin.(now using body lotion which helps) I went to Saks and tried out many many of the bonds and quite a few of the creeds and a few of the summery Tom Ford fragrances and these are the ones i liked the most after sampling them all except for the guerlain which i only grabbed a whiff of when it was spotted on the way out the store and took a spray.
In no special order and why i am undecided.
PICK 2 please
Creed Virgin Island Water
Creed Silver Mountain Water
Bond No 9 Coney Island
Tom Ford Azure lime
Tm Ford Lavender Palm
Guerlain Vetiver
Pros and cons
Creed VIW
+ was great smelling lime and coconut and reminded me of trips to the Caribbean and has a fun personality
- concern of longevity on this one. Tried my sample on a warm day but not sure how much i applied using a cheapie sample plastic spray borrowed from bond counter ,but i last 5 hours.
Creed Silver Mountain Water
+ really smelled fantastic was hard to resist buying it on the spot and sample preformed well on my skin
- will this be to heavy in the extreme heat?
Bond No. 9
+ loved the tartness of this Not to sour for me! Really enjoyed and makes me happy and as much Fun as VIW and lasted lasted and couldn't stop smelling myself afterward
- concerned that i may tire of this novelty scent? miss it since i used up my sample
Tom Ford Azure lime
+ loved this lime scent
_ will it last on my skin this summer? wasted my sample before it got hot (couldn't help myself it smelled so good)
TF lavender palm
+ something about this one i like I guess i am a lavender fan just smelled good
_ somethings holding me back and not sure why maybe the price?
Guerlain
+ spayed a card myself seeing the bottle there and really like a lot
_ not sure about high heat and being to heavy but not sure without having asked for a sample
I tried many of the bonds and creeds and these are my favorites so far.
I keep changing my mind and but am happy to have found so many i enjoy.
I did like wall street and did like green valley but the previous ones were tops for me
for now.
I figure only 2 for now to hopefully keep me from over spending.
ps i have thoughly enjoyed reading the many informative reviews ( positive and negative) and varied opinions of the base note community.
What a great hobby and loving it!
Fragrance bring me great JOY
Thanks for your help![]()
Creed Virgin Island Water
Guerlain Vetiver
Guerlain
Silver Mountain
I would not get Lavender Palm.
I haven't tried the rest.
Creed Silver Mountain Water
Guerlain Vetiver
Creed Silver Mountain Water (though it doesn't last on me)
Guerlain Vetiver
Silver Mountain Water
Virgin Island Water
These two from your list as the Guerlain can be a challenging fragrance for some.
There are lot of good ones not on your list like Millesime Imperial,Original Vetiver and the Acqua Di Parma ranga.etc
Guerlain Vetiver, SMW.
Coney Island and Azure Lime
I can only pick one: Guerlain Vetiver (vintage formulation only).
BN9 and VIW
Guerlain vetiver was developed back then with the heat of tropical countries in mind, so it does very well in the situation. Vetiver in general is fresh, but, unlike citrus, it tends to last a long time.
Incidentally, stuff will last even less in the summer, because with the heat the perfume evaporates faster. It may be more intense while it lasts, but it lasts definitely less. A way to make a perfume last longer is to spray clothes, which are colder than the skin.

Creed Silver Mountain Water
Bond No 9 Coney Island
are my recommendations. Coney Island lasts, smells great to me, and I have yet to tire of it. SMW is just a great scent, and I think you'll find it works pretty well in all situations.

Double Post
Definitely Creed Virgin Island Water and Bond No 9's Coney Island for me (just go easy on Coney Island. The Bond's are all strong, & Coney Island's more gourmand base can be a bit cloying if over sprayed).
Others I'd recommend sampling for summer include:
-CB I Hate Perfume's At The Beach 1966 (perfect retro Coppertone scent with added notes of sand & boardwalk wood)
-Bond No. 9 Fire Island (another great suntan lotion scent. This one is creamier & based on Ban De Soliel).
-Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Montauk (opens with a bit of citrus & blueberry, but quickly turns into a wonderful ozone dominated scent that reminds me of ocean air).

I appreciate the posts and here are the votes. It went and I may be wrong and im wrong a lot .
Guerlain 9
Creed Silver Mountain Water 7
Creed Virgin Island Water 9
Bond Coney Island 6
Azule Lime TF 1
Lavender Palm minus - 1
Really Appreciate the suggestions of others to try and will add them to my must try list Creed MI! original vettier , Acqua Di Parma but they are not carrying it at my saks store now for some reason, cb hate perfume at the beach, and fire island , and the bond with the berry note Montak Andy warhol
think I'll give the guerlain vettiver a sold sniff again to be sure and buy only 1 this weekend and figure out if it vettiver next or one of the other.
I really love the coney island even though it scored poorly but feel like its a little too unique not having some solid go to scents
So this one I'll not buy this week
I really like Silver Mountain water but think im a little more casual on most occasions when I go out.
Azule lime and Lavender Palm must not be to good ill hang on to my samples when I need of a lime smell or lavender ( i think i will revist this lavender palm later and see if my taste changes but definately not for now) must be TF is better at winter scents
So my mind is made up I'll head there this friday and pick up a small bottle of virgin island water and request a sample of the Vetiver Guerlain and try not to pull the trigger and buy it on the spot but instead enjoy mulling over what to chose for the following week. fragrance problems are the best problems for sure.
Thanks
+1 Virgin Island Water
+1 Guerlain Vetiver
-1 Lavender Palm (yuck)
Silver Mountain Water is a must have! It works wonders in the heat, most refreshing fragrance ever!
Better than VIW bevause it's more versatile, but VIW would still come in second for me. It's good.
