Cool. According to my hosts, the cache table was out of control. No idea what that meant, but that seems to have done the trick!

As people were getting Malware warnings, there is certainly the possibility that the code was designed to download something to users computers. More information about iFrame malware is here

As always it is always wise to make sure virus checkers on your computers are up to date. I'm currently looking into the situation further to see If I can work out the nature of what the code was attempting to do. I will of course keep you updated.

Shortly after the attack happened, vBulletin who make the software Basenotes runs on issued a security patch, which we have installed.
Nice the hear that no data was accessed,
Even though I'm still a green novice baasenoter, I must admit I kind if missed being able to read the forums on my iPad and iPhone on the train and in the bed using Tapatalk and of course reading reviews in the fragrance directory on my iMac at my desk at home - so really glad this place is up and running again.

Thanks for your hard work, Sir !!

Thanks for the relentless work in getting the site up and running again. In spite of the few glitches it has all been a lot sooner than I expected.

Still unable to change avatar or profile picture, it won't upload the picture. Also, since I changed my avatar the last time several months ago, the avatar does not show when you post what scent you are wearing. Please fix.

Thank you Grant. I'm using Firefox on a Mac. Just wanted you to know that when I hit Post Quick Reply on the forum I consistently get a dropdown that says something to the effect of "Do you want to leave or stay on page? If you leave data will be lost." If I hit stay I get a dup post, if I hit leave it posts just fine, tho the whole process is SLOOOOOOW. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks again for all you do.

It's gets better during certain hours with less multiple posts, but database tends to lag chunks of time before updating. Still working better the last two days IMO.

Yay - Basenotes is back !

Still a little nerve-wrecking to be asked to leave the page, and to wonder: "Is my text lost now?" and then leaving the page, and the post did land. Except: Double. Then, go through this process again.

The software seems to work best in the morning (EST - 7:00 AM NYC, USA).

Thanks for the work, I missed the site, and was following via Facebook.

I'm really glad you've kept this board up as much as you have despite all the issues. I know this must be a very stressful and taxing situation but I'm VERY grateful for all you do here!

Thank you. I don't know what wonders of technology you did to either keep the crashes in check, or whether you have done a major change, but

IT IS WORKING NOW. YAY !!!!! I changed my avatar real fast, and put down my music themes. Must do these things, "while the battery lasts".

A few members got tired of waiting around, not having enough space to speak on Facebook, and sauntered over to Fragrantica. There the "newbies" were received with open arms.

Sometimes it is good to step out of the regular routines and see what else is around. Like a fresh approach and avoid frozen attitudes by long lasting traditions.

This facility that the internet provides - actually connects more than it divides. So, I intend to shuttle back and forth between the discussion groups. Not every day, there is something earthshaking to talk about ... but we only have something to read and think about, when enough members put something down.
