Usually I like to try samples before I buy fragrances, but Live Jazz is pretty cheap anyway. Do you guys think it is worth a blind buy?
If it's cheap at your country, then why not?
For me, i make sure i tried it. Live jazz doesnt last on me anyway. Probably for 1 hour and its gone
I would say yes if you like mint.
I'd say so. It is an excellent fragrance available at a bargain price and would be a worthy addition to your wardrobe.
Great blind buy, if you will enjoy it.
Refreshing minty grapefruit in the opening that drys down to a light vanilla woody base. One of the most refreshing fragrances you can buy when it is really hot. I say go for it!
I don't think you should ever blind buy anything, period. I have a whole drawer full of scents to attest to that.
But Live Jazz is the safest blind buys out there. It's a wonderful fragrance, and can be worn anywhere, any time.

Yes. It's very easy to wear.
Smells a little like water on the rocks with a lemon on top, but overall a definite blind buy.

Yup, I dunno anyone who doesn't like this stuff.
The only reason it wouldn't be safe is if you don't like one of the 3 things: mint, cilantro, or grapefruit.
It's a great fragrance.
Another yes vote
If you like clean, linear yet unassumingly classy minty-herbal scents, then yes
I'm a mint fan and because of that I blind bought Live Jazz because everything that I read said that it was a great mint fragrance. You do get that initial burst of mint at the beginning but it is very short lived and then it is gone forever, at least on my skin. Then you get a very strong Cilantro for the remainder of the dry down and then it softens a little before it's gone. I still like and wear the fragrance often, but it's not about the mint like A LOT of people on here would lead you to believe. It's mainly about the cilantro. I think it's a safe blind buy as I have been happy with it and I bought it blind, but I just thought I'd give you a heads up of what it is and what it isn't. Some might disagree but I have had many family members and friends tell me what they smell when they smell Live Jazz and everyone has told me they smell Cilantro, and unless they smell it right after it's sprayed they would never guess that it had mint in it. So..verdict, it's a great, refreshing Cilantro fragrance. But then again, I'm a huge mint-head and I really wanted it to be all about the mint.
Here we go again-- I'm gonna blind buy this one too. It's been on my list to test, anyway. Just picked up Rive Gauche and then Kouros blind, so I am on a blind roll.
Yes ! again
definitely no! not coz i don't like it, but coz of the very risky "rhubarb" note. it's not a common note and once u don't like it, it is not tolerable at all.
Seasonal favorites :
Winter : The Dreamer & Burberry London
Spring-Autumn : Bvlgari Pour Homme & Prada Man
Summer : Bvlgari Aqva & Aqua Fahrenheit
All-Rounders : Terre D'Hermes & Bleu de Chanel
Somebody once said ''It is like a Creed in disguise.'' Awesome drydown with that 'touch of vanilla' but that coriander note that kills it for me.
Yes, it's great!
Not a good blind buy. Has a terrible fake cilantro note that is overpowering. Look at how many bottles are being sold because it was bought blind.....
A very good fragrance.....I would still sample if possible as always!!!
i also do not like it..too bitter opening..if you like hanae mori for men, i believe live jazz may be a safe blind buy for you
Anyone think Live Jazz is similar to Platinum Egoiste?
I find Live Jazz to be like putting your head under the vegetable misters at the grocery store. My first blind buy and I couldn't be happier.
I blind bought Live Jazz from a fellow BN'er and I don't like it at all. It was actually my SOTD because I was still trying to like it but I can't seem appreciate this one. Reminds me of spraying lemon toothpaste on me and doesn't last long enough for my liking. I wouldn't recommend Live Jazz unless you really really enjoy mint and bitter lemon. That's all I get from this.

Live Jazz by Yves Saint Laurent - One is initially treated to a citric blast of bittersweetness from tangy grapefruit and zesty lemon. Sweet spearmint invades the citrus duet, and, with its brightness, fosters a refreshing and cooling sensation. This invigorating medley brews for a spell before meandering to the adaptive middle. Here, in the heart, heaps of coriander, with its spicy and faintly sweet grassiness, commingle with the tart and vegetal rhubarb leaf, and envelop the opening concoction infusing it with warmth and greenness. A faint strawlike something twinkles in the background, along with the minty citrus. Transitioning to the waiting base, dusty and dry cedar, somewhat floral and honeyed ambergris and a tinge of vanilla intermingle to generate a pleasing drydown. This all-season composition has average projection, after an hour becoming a skin scent, and longevity, 5-8 hours. In view of the foregoing as well as its favorable price point and wonderful versatility, an enthusiastic "thumbs up" is warranted.
Live Jazz is worth a blind buy - it's a wonderful fresh minty citrus blast of a frag.
Doesn't last that long, but the 5-6 hours it does last are very comfortable and cooling

Why doesnt any mention the overwhelming synthetic coriander note when describing this frag? makes me nauseous.
I am a newbie. I bought Live Jazz blind bc it has great reviews per BN. I have tried it 3 or 4 times and felt nauseating every single time. I did not know why. Now thinking about it, it's probably the fake cilantro note as heperd mentioned that turns me off. I much prefer Eau de Rochas to Live Jazz though they are not the same.
definitely......it's one of the cleanest, most refreshing, even appealing mint-grapefruit-vanilla summer scents out there!
I bought this when it came out and still have a vintage bottle that I use now and again. I have never really noticed the coriander note in more than a (nice)passing way. Maybe it was reformulated, but it has always been nothing but smooth to my nose. So my recommendation is an absolute yes for a blind buy.
I don't have a signature fragrance. My signature changes every day, why shouldn't my fragrance?
I agree, Live Jazz is bloody awfull. The drydown reminds me of cheap talcum powder, and yes, the cilantro note does indeed induce that nauseating feeling.
One has to be very wary of Basenotes positive reviews, very misleading! Some of the very best fragrances out there are the ones that get little attention and/or negative feedback.
Always test for yourself before buying.
I love it. It's loud in a good way. It gets noticed and people compliment me all the time on it.
To be fair it isn't basenotes . You just never know who is on the other end of the review. I try to locate posts by people that have similar tastes to mine. Then I might try a sample of what they recommmend.
CHEMISTRY by CLINIQUE used to be a *brilliant scent yet nobody has really picked up on it here. The reformulation is horrendous though.
One you start getting into batch/serial numbers dates etc. the whole thing loses it's appeal. Take this and other forums with a grain of salt. Use them as a guide only. Appreciate what you do learn but make up your own mind by SMELLING.
I have learned a lot here.

I blind bought this shortly after posting in this thread, and I love it. It does have a sharp spicy note in there, which I guess is the cilantro and maybe the coriander mentioned above, which gives it a strange slighly dichordant effect, but in a good way. Sharper and spicier than most "fresh" scents, and, hence, more interesting. For me, the mint is quite prominent, and not so overshadowed as it seems to be for some other posters.
