Default Let's Talk About... Parfum des Merveilles by Hermes

Does anybody here love and cherish their Parfum des Merveilles? I find it to be quite a gorgeous Hermes fragrance. It's not as light and salty as Eau des Merveilles. The Elixir des Merveilles (EdP) never appealed much to me, as it seemed too much a departure from the overall theme.

I find the parfum has exceptional sillage & longevity, still very marine-salt water with its use of ambergris then the lush floral side. It's one of these fragrances so well-blended that I'm enamored by its sheer complexity.

I Love them all.....I do Love the Elixir.....I just sampled this at Saks yesterday.....They had the EdP of Voyage but did not have a tester yet.....Eau De Merveilles is Fantastic.....I would have to say that this is my all time favorite fragrance from the Feminine side of the aisle.....I also like the Hermes Garden Series as they are sold as unisex fragrances.....I wanted to sample the Voyage EdP before I purchased Merveilles Elixir.....I am a Huge Fan of the Hermes House for sure!!!

I find it has a close-to the-skin booziness to it that isn't in the original, that's addictive. I treasure my last drops from my bottle...

I'm intrigued. I did not realize there was a parfum. I might take the plunge on this one.
edit-I just ordered this from Hermes website. I will let you know what I think!

To me the parfum is the best of all of the Merveilles series, and I think it is based on Eau des Merveilles (whereas the Elixir is a complete departure from the theme set by the Eau.)

This is from Now Smell this:
Parfum des Merveilles came out in 2005, and has notes of oak, patchouli, mosses, amber, balsam of Peru, tears of Siam, davana, cognac note, leaves and roots. As you would expect, Parfum des Merveilles is a denser, more concentrated fragrance. It retains the citrus but tones down the sparkle and amps up the woods and amber. There is more earthiness, and noticeably more patchouli. The cognac note gives it a late fall kind of feeling that is quite different from the summery trail of Eau des Merveilles.

I think Mike Perez is right, the first thing I noticed was this booziness. I think I'm getting the davana mixed with the amber prominently which is interesting because I often don't like davana but here I think it is nicely balanced with a bit of patchouli. Overall; it is a sensuous woody/citrus overlaid with salty cognac. If you can wrap your brain around that! It's pretty tantalizing! I'm so glad I found a new love. Thanks, Anthony!

Yay! I'm glad you are enjoying it kumquat. This is one that I love wearing when I know I'll be sweating, I think it mixes great w/ sweat and smells great when body heat rises.
