Question Which Mainstream Releases Over The Last Four Years Are Worth Buying ?

I have become more than a little disheartened and need inspiration from fellow enthusiasts.
Please do not suggest niche stuff.
By all means feel free to suggest womens fragrances and Limited editions or flankers.

Spicebomb, Pure Havane, and Pure Malt are all very good. Also Dior's Leather Oud and Ambre Nuit are both fantastic.

Some will disagree, but I'd say Bang! belongs on the list of the best mainstream releases of the last four years.

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions !
I do agree with suggestions for the Dior Line, esp. Dior Homme and Intense. Also for the Hermes suggestions.
I am having a much harder job with the likes of Chanel Bleue......smells way too synthetic/chemical for me.
I am really shocked at the huge appraisal for Spicebomb.....I cannot get my head around this one at all. I find it mediocre at best.
I will keep trying it. I have done complete turnarounds with several fragrances in the past......so who knows. But when it comes to the word spice I am spoiled with such wonders as the vintage Monsieur Rochas, or vintage Loewe Hombre.
Please keep the suggestions coming. I will re try all.

From the past 4 years not many, unfortunately...

That said, Potion and He Wood Rocky Mountain Wood by DSquared2 are both purchase-worthy, IMO. Also Costume National Homme by Costume National is a definite winner. Oh yes, and if you count Guerlain as mainstream, then the excellent Cologne du Parfumeur is certainly purchase-worthy, IMO.

edit: +1 Terre d'Herms Pure Parfum (forgot about that one)....

Honestly outside of Dior Homme and Intense, I can't think of a single designer frag released in the last 4 years that I can tolerate. They just don't make them like they used to. I suppose Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver could qualify as well.

"Worth buying" is very difficult to say.
Definately not Spicebomb is the first thing that comes to mind.
Hardly classics but I am tempted to say YSL's Nuit De L'Homme as one of the better ones or Chanel's Bleu in the designer world.

One of the best releases so far, IMO, is Aramis Perfume Calligraphy. A wonderful contemporary take on agarwood.

Thanks to everyone for your help.
I am really smitten with the following >

Bottega Veneta, (thanks alfarom for your tip)
    Chanel no 19 Poudre
    Hermes Voyager
    Dior Homme and Intense

Amen Pure Malt and Havane, I find...so la la.

I definitely do not like >

    Chanel Bleue
    YSL La Nuit
    Midnight In Paris, (edt)
    Spicebomb

Most of the others mentioned I have not yet tried, but will do so.

These two however, absolutely BLEW MY MIND......I am surprised that nobody has mentioned them ! >

Cartier Baiser Vole, ( I sampled and ended up buying the edp version). A womens fragrance, but wearable for a man.
    Cartier Roadster Sport.

I was just lucky enough to get a deo stick and shower gel of BANG! yesterday and was reminded of how much I like this frag. I agree it does belong on the best of mainstream for the last 4 years. I would add CK One Shock for him to the list as well. and maybe Dior Homme Sport. I'd place Polo Modern Reserve and maybe Dior Homme Sport on a list just slightly higher. I'm sure more will pop into my head soon

Eau Sauvage Parfum and Shalimar Parfum Initial L'Eau are both quite nice.

Many of those mentioned are more than 4 years old - the Dior Homme series, for instance.

Since you encouraged suggestions for women's fragrances, I found the following nice green things worth considering:

Some really great suggestions thus far, and since you encouraged limited editions, I'll throw John Varvatos 10 Year Anniversary in the mix.

I'm giving a +1 for this for the fact that it's not discussed on the boards so much, and it's so persistent inspite of being a green fresh scent my fave SA said it's great for clubbing 'coz it seems to hold up well against say, cig smoke (and she was saying this a straight face; she knows I have no concept of gender association with frags at all, love her for it).

oh, and throwing in the new Versus (2010) too (errr, for women also -- the one with the purple Celtic-like maze box). Sweet citrus, very pleasant, and a compliment-getter for me (though I dare not disclose to ladies who ask) Funny how I get compliments for my fragrances that ladies can wear themselves, like Polo Red White and Blue (notes - cucumber melon apple?), Paris Hilton for Men (cucumber melon?) and the aforementioned Versus (amalfi lemon, kumquat) but not for my manly man discontinued stuff like 1st issue Aramis Havana and Jacomo Anthracite, Montana (Red Box), and basenotes fave Rive Gauche. What gives?

Prada Amber ph Intense edp. I highly recommend this as it is a full-bodied edp with staying power that smells manly. There is no other way to describe it except "very masculine."
