Default Al Attar fragrance line? Luckyscent?

Has anyone gave these a go yet? They seem really nice. I'm curious about these very much.

I was interested too, until I saw the price and how much you get.

One ml of attar is equivalent to around 10ml of alcohol based perfume.

    From a usage/concentrated perspective.

I figure it would be around $40 for a ml of al attar. I'm still kinda considering buying a sample of each, it's just to me at .3ml is it enough to make a good decision of what it's about.

    Yes, it's plenty to decide.

This is the only thing that pisses me off about Luckycent.
Why do they not sell samples of certain lines. MFK, Lutens etc.
Is it an exclusivity thing? Even that doesn't make much sense.
Not many people are going to spend the money on a MFK blind buy.

Back on topic. These both sound really good. I would love to sample them.

There was a glich in the system, their back. Ordered the samples, the guy was telling me that a drop on the wrist will last quite awhile.

I just checked and the Al Attar samples are listed as available. Keep in mind that these are highly concentrated attars, so the amounts are tiny because the scents will be profoundly strong. MFK can be sampled easily (and very inexpensively) from the MFK website, or free if you happen to go to a store that sells them. SL have a choke-hold on their market, and even getting samples from them can be tough. With that said, Luckyscent doesn't carry the exclusives, so it's the same line that you can find in a number of department stores and whatnot.

Anyone else notice the faux-Arabic on the bottle? "Parfum Extrait"?

Yeah, I know what you mean, last week I was ordering the Tiziana Terenzi from them, when Ectasy was not available as a sample, well today it is, just like the glich today, I could not see it, I guess.

OK, I have a bit of egg on my face.
I just noticed LS is selling samples of many, but not all Serge Lutens.

The Durra sounds spicier and deeper to me, just judging from the pyramid. I love the idea of saffron with rose and incense; with the oud in there, this might be killer. Kaja sounds sweeter and more powdery.

And as for the price, 7.5 ml is a quarter of an ounce. I've bought this size of Guerlain extraits that cost more, and probably wouldn't radiate as much as this would.

Regarding the price, the guy at Luckyscent was telling me about Amouage Homage Attar which goes for $665 30ml, and at one time was giving out samples (a couple of drops on a card), so now I do not feel that bad about paying this price, for the Al Attar's, lol

    This.

In regards to lucky not selling samples of lutens, SL won't let them sell samples, but you can ask for samples with your purchase. That's how I received mine.

My samples came in today, have not open them yet, but the viscosity is like pretty thick oil, both have a dark amber color to them.

I sampled Durra yesterday. Not too much to say. I was expecting more from this attar. Not very strong, and was surprised at the crappy longevity. As far as the smell goes - just an average okay smelling scent. Nothing to get excited about. The Amouage Attars trounce this one.

Bummer. I was hoping to hear better.

I have samples of both coming next week. Sounds like a complete letdown just like the Xerjoff Attars were.

Just got a .7ml sample of Kaja from the scent bar, wearing it this morning (Awesome of them, thank you). So far it's been very nice, one dab on each wrist. The opening was quite lovely, honey sweet reminiscent of Back to Black, with an earthy note to it. After an hour, it became soapy but not in a bad way. Normally I'm turned off by anything that goes powdery or soapy, but the sweetness that was there kept it very nice and refreshing. At about the two hour mark, it changed again into a nice earthy and sweet vibe. Little projection, and at 5 hours in it's entirely a skin scent. Reading lucky scent's breakdown of it, I have to say their description is spot on. I think it's a very nice scent, though not sure I'd buy a bottle.

I must mention the presentation. Amouage has set the bar pretty high for what I expect or hope from an attar, with their crystalline bottles impressing as much as the fragrance. I found the Al Attar bottles to be a little cheap looking, and lacking the cone extending into the liquid that I like so much with Amouage. The top was plastic, with a plastic stopper that I suppose would be the way to apply it. It may be unfair to compare them to Amouage, given that Amouage is over the top in both fragrance and presentation. But at that price per ml, I would expect something a little more.

You're welcome. I have to add, Durra didn't interest me at all on a strip. Found it off-putting (subjective of course) and uninteresting.

Cool, thanks again. I have my samples, but have not tried them yet.
