Default Two styles of ambers - where do Ambrarem and Ambra M fit?

In testing various amber based fragrances it's occurred to me that I mentally compartmentalise them into two broad categories.
Into which category would you classify Ambrarem and Ambra Mediterranea?

    1. Translucent and resinous e.g. Ambre Sultan and Amber Absolute

    2. Opaque and varyingly vanillic e.g. Ambre Precieux and Ambre 114

More broadly, does anyone else think of ambers in this or a similar way?

    Ambrarem into category one IMO.

I don't get your classifications but Ambra Mediterrenea is an amber with other notes. Same as how Ambre Sultan is amber with other notes.

I'm also not sure about the opaque/transparent division. Perhaps you mean dry-woody versus vanillic? Or less versus more sweet?

Presumably, a good nose could distinguish by material (benzoin vs labdanum vs styrax etc), but I'm not at that level.

Ambrarem is dominated by a marine note (which is totally unpleasant to my nose), so it would probably fit into a dry/transparent category, though I'm not sure where the ambery part itself would fit - hard to smell it for me.

Weird, I'd put Ambre 114 and Ambre Sultan into the same category of amber... So I'm not sure I can advise based on your categories.

I get your classification. I might actually subdivide it a bit, but yeah, basically I get group ambers into warm vanilla heavy ones like L'Artisan's and then spicey/smokey either dirty or resinous (AA), or rarely herbal (Sultan).

don't know the two frags you're asking about, but I do get your classification

I agree with you. Ambre 114 and Ambre Prexious are very similar. Ambre Sultan is comletely different

For me, Ambre Sultan was very heavy and dense, the opposite of "transparent," but I tried it long ago so perhaps it would feel lighter now.

In my perception Ambra Mediterranea leans towards the resinous side because of a consistent amount of frankincense while Ambrarem has a more "powdery/woody" vanillic quality.

I guess I'm relying a little too much on the synesthetic effect in my descriptions to make sense to most.

In terms of the way I perceive the "clarity" of some ambers I think transparent is wrong - I meant translucent if that helps at all.
