Default Vanilla based fragrance similar to Guerlain SDV

I love SDV. I am looking for something similarly complex, but more masculine (more woods?), and perhaps more darker and less sweet.

    Any recommendations?

-notes I don't like: oud, leather, incense, tobacco (in that order). small amounts are okay, but if these notes are prominent I tend to dislike the fragrance.

i haven't tried Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille, and it sounds like it is what I am looking for (Woods+Vanilla) but I heard it was even more feminine than SDV. Do you agree?

Or would Montale Boise Vanille be good as well? Can anyone compare it to SDV?

    L'Instant Extreme
    Dior Homme Intense

They are not really similar to SDV but have vanilla and cocoa with woods.

Les Nombres d'Or Vanille by Mona di Orio sounds amazing! I will definitely check this one out. Is the vanilla note prominent? (i love vanilla haha).

Quite, but it is a dry vanilla bean. It has a great dry rum top note as well.

I think I might even blind buy the Mona di Orio. Did you smell Montale Boise Vanille by any chance? How does it compare?

I have not, sorry. As for the blind buy, while I am pretty confident it is what you are looking for there are few certainties in life and Luckyscent sells samples of it for not a lot of money. So you may want to order a sample of it there to make sure, as I think the sample is $4 with another $4 flat shipping charge. Good luck!

The vanilla in Hermessence Vanille Galante only emerges in the heart, and comes into full bloom in the base. It is almost an afterthought; I am not quite sure this is what you are looking for. Also, it is certainly feminine leaning.

    ↓↓↓↓↓

Hermessence Vanille Galante by Hermes - One is initially treated to a fruity accord of melons and bananas coupled with some leafy and dried grass nuances. Sea water from calone sprinkles this gardeny melange with saltiness, and flows to the awaiting middle. Here, in the heart, the smooth sweetness of lily and the flowery fruitiness of ylang ylang, enhanced by sunny salicylates, infuse the opening brew with their exhilarating facets, while a faint, nascent vanilla makes its presence known. Transitioning to the waiting base, a barely sweet vanilla blooms and commingles with a milky and pleasant sandalwood, while faintly floral, cherry-vanilla heliotrope floats about. An airy and soothing drydown ensures. Definitely leaning to the feminine side, this well-done composition is reflective of its high quality. This is a skin scent with average longevity.

i haven't tried it either, but thats what i'm reading on basenotes/fragrantica. strange.. i would think the woods would make it more masculine than SDV

A fellow vanilla wh*re weighing in - I love both SDV and Mona di Orio but they are quite different - my nose definitely picks up on the clove/orange accords of Mona di Orio - certainly not xmas candle-ish but it definitely is a different spin on vanilla. I like SL Un Bois Vanille but for me, it's not in the same league as these others and to my nose, leans more feminine than the other two. And the coconut aspect makes it more of a warm weather choice - but that's just me.

As someone else wisely mentioned, Diptyque Eau Duelle is definitely worth checking out as is my other HG Vanilla, M. Micallef Une Note Vanillee, which apparently has been discontinued or at least pending some kind of reintroduction...enjoy!!
