Default How to properly store bottles in really hot weather?

It's currently the middle of summer here where I live, where temperatures go up to 36 C (95+ F) and very humid. Forecasters say it might even get hotter next month.

I store my colognes in their own box, and keep them inside the clothes cabinet in my room.
I store my little atomisers in a small box, and also keep them in a separate cabinet.

But the temperature's getting too hot, and around mid afternoon, when I open the cabinets, you can feel the warm air getting out. The bottles also seem to be warm to the touch. Especially the little atomisers.

I'm concerned the heat might damage the colognes. I'm very careful they don't get exposed to sunlight, and as little exposure to indoor lighting as possible. But the weather's just too hot now and I just wanna make sure my bottles don't go bad.

    What should I do?

    Thanks.

You could purchase a cooler to store them in if heat is a problem.

They should be stored in an air-conditioned, temperature controlled environment IMO.

    Thanks.

I actually did buy an insulating container (styrofoam cooler box) to store my bottles now.

It'snot exactly a refrigerator/cooler, but it's slightly better than being totally exposed to heat.

I only turn on the airconditioning when I'm at home and it's really too hot (noon time, late afternoon) so the room temperature's not always nice and cool, 24/7.

As usual, it also depends on how long you're planning to keep the bottles. For something you plan to consume within a few years, there should be no problems with this type of heat (light is a worse problem). For very long term conservation, though, that's different.

I was going to say keep the AC on at 25 degrees but apparently thats not an option.

I was gonna say the same thing. It should keep them protected from the heat. You may even be able to buy some of those freezable ice packs and put them in there every now and then to keep them cool on really warm days. I don't know about keeping them in the fridge since drastic temperature change is bad for fragrances.

I have a wine cooler with a constant 13 degrees celsius temperature. Others would agree with coolers and others don't. But this is what gives me the peace of mind.

You just have to put them in a darkened closet. And, remember, heat rises..so keep them on a lower shelf, in their original boxes, packed in a larger box. If the AC is on during the day, for a few hours during the day, that's quite enough. Nights are always cooler. I wouldn't put them in a fridge, unless they are light, citrus fragrances, which the top notes tend to spoil easily.

I think the way you're keeping them is alright.

I think constant changing temperature is the major problem with deteriorating fragrances. Whatever you decide on, make sure that they are able to stay relatively the same temp and avoid dramatic changes too often.

The temp range these days is low-mid 80's to mid-high 90's.
