    Default Creed boutique price increases

I see the Creed have increased it's prices by circa 10% as of yesterday!

I was considering a 250ml of Aventus at £255, but this is now £275! I was struggling to justify it to myself at £255, and I'm not sure I'll plump for it just yet.

Shame there was no advance warning, although that is their prerogative of course.

I will likely revert back to splits to maintain a better £/ml ratio!

Haven't checked lately on this side of the Atlantic, but if they haven't increased yet, I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

Splits are indeed the way forward, but you can still get Creeds discounted at some online places. For new releases like Aventus in the UK, go for a purchase at Harrods using their reward card on special 10% off weekends. For something priced that high, it can reduce the price by a bit.

I'd be interested to know if the US side does follow suit as the UK distributor is just a 3rd party and I get the idea they set their prices as it pleases them.

    Very crappy news indeed.

Ridiculous. Prices were already way too high for what you get. Now you have to spend even more money to get a fragrance that may or may not be good based on batch variations. Perhaps the name "Creed" should be changed to "Greed".

Just wanted to point out that in 2002, I purchased my 4oz bottle of Himalaya at Neiman Marcus for $180. Ten years later... $285.

Actually I've noticed that a lot of luxury items have raised their prices this year. Especially watches.

Thinking about it, I've noticed that too. Does anyone know what might be the cause of this?

It seems Panerai and a few others do this to us every year. I don't see the increase on the US Creed site.

I kinda agree. Really, the only Creed I'd pay full retail for is Virgin Island Water. For niche, I'm enjoying Bond No 9 a lot more than Creed. The scents are more modern, the longevity is top notch, there are no batch variations or degradation, and i can safely buy them on eBay for half price. (without worrying about fakes because Bond's bottles are hard to copy).

In the USA Creed prices were increased last fall but not across the board. For example, Creed Windsor went from $605 to $640and the greycap EdTs went from 140.00 to 160.00 for the 75ml, while EdT flacons went from 235.00 to 260.00, etc. They are grabbing all the gusto they can on the full retail level! The mark up on fragrances in general is obscene IMO.

This sort of stuff makes me more inclined to buy from grey market retailers and splits. Why spend ~$300 at the Creed Boutique when I can get the same exact product from Fragrancenet for $135? It's a no brainer for me.

It's a bit frustrating because Creed is my favorite house too.

Yep, I remember 2002 prices for Creed. Back then I believe Creed was the most expensive line carried at Neiman Marcus (in Chicago anyways)... but $180 being full retail on a 4 oz. Millesime isn't too bad, where $285 is a bit harder to swallow. It's hard to say at $180 or $280 120ml of Creed is "worth it", as a general statement. Of course to some it will be, while to others it won't.

If paying full retail was the only way to purchase Creed, I'd buck up and put out $285 for a 4 oz. - just not on Himalaya, specifically Request to Creed - please bring the 4 oz Bois du Portugal size to the North American market!

Why increase the price of an already overpriced fragrance!!

That's crazy.. I've purchased some in splits before myself but that just seems like a way to drive away more potential customers. I guess if you're buying bottles of stuff from Creed anyway you're probably not going to notice an increase of $30 - $40 dollars.

Not only perfume but like the rest of those material stuff on the market, have been using a simple "you buy it now or you pay more" psychological warfare to make the luxury goods consumers think their purchases will increase the value in coming years. Many of them might even raised their price twice in the past couple years but yet still maintained a somewhat affordable price tag.

I am not sure how much of this relate to the artificial petrodollar inflation. The whole market is like viagra on steroids, only goes up and the word deflation would just never been seen there.

I have seen a downward drift for Creed pricing on the grey market over the last year due, I would assume, to competition. Surely I can't be the only BNer to observe this. I would not expect drastic change as many online vendors, especially the drop shippers, look to move large volumes of product with a smaller margin.

I have noticed this as well. Especially with places like Fragrancenet and ScentedMonkey. I wonder if a price increase would affect grey market prices in the long run though, after the lower priced stock sells out.
