    Default Fragrance recommendation: Spicy amber...

    Hi all!

Just like everyone else, I'm still searching for my holy grail evening scent... What I'm looking for is a spicy and slightly sweet amber.

Ambre Precieux - Beautiful amber with a touch of vanilla sweetness, but I want something a little spicier.
Ambre Sultan - Amazingly interesting, but a bit too herbal and serious.

I'm looking for something in between... An amber but with some sweeter oriental spices on top, like cinnamon and clove. If Egoiste and Ambre Precieux had a baby, that would be what I'm looking for!

The one I'm looking at next is PdE's Ambre Russe, but I don't really do leathers. They kinda feel a little mature and serious on me...

    Thanks for any suggestions!
    Taz.

Cinnamon, cloves, amber, musk and tuberose. Put these together and you have Serge Lutens Cedre.

Potion by DSquared2 may be worth checking out if you haven't already. It is not a straight spicy amber, but amber, cinnamon and black pepper are the most prominent notes.

Ambre Nuit by Dior. To me, it's exactly what you describe, spicy and only slightly sweet.

You may also want to look into Ambrarem, for a very unique and interesting amber scent, spicy, as well as other things.

    Potion is great.

I'm also adding a suggestion of Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense.

Ambre Russe by Parfum d'Empire - Initially, one is treated to a heady, spirituous accord, supplied by the bitter, salty vodka and the bracing, effervescent champagne, with an underlying faint sweetness from the amber. This bozziness meanders to the spicy middle. It is here in the stewing heart that an astringent and sour coriander, a sweat-laden cumin and a dusty cinnamon infuse a bath of sweet and powdery tea which subsumes the opening. A somewhat creamy and smoky brew flows to the waiting base. A wonderful leather is the underpinning of the impressive drydown, with the leather initially giving a saddle leather feel then morphing into a smoky suede, carrying the honeyed and sultry amber to interact with a restrained and dark incense, whose tenacity tones down the amber's sweetness. A relished journey, this well crafted and refined composition has very good longevity and projection. Its multifaceted amber star has a terrific cast of supporting players.

    &

Ambre 114 by Histoire de Parfums - A rather different accord greets one initially. A somewhat piquant and savory thyme commingles with the cinnamon-like nutmeg, fostering an atypical, sweetly herbaceous slant. A nascent amber draws the curious blend to its heart. Here, the amber comes into full bloom, with its earthy sweetness, noticeably tempered by an ample geranium, with its forceful greenness and faintly sour undertone. Glimpses of a minty patchouli as well as the clumped, field-grass aspect of vetiver also present. A creamy, balsamic, and faintly spicy, woods accord can also be discerned. And, a lovely, cabernet-like rose makes an appearance. Transitioning to the base, the resinous amber is lifted by a warm, vanillic tonka bean. Labdanum couples with vanilla and benzoin to create a wonderful, ambergris illusion. A clean musk adds to the delightful experience. An enchanting drydown ensues. Admittedly, this is a beautiful, sweetish scent, with average projection and longevity. However, its composition is somewhat banal, hence, my unenthusiastic "Thumbs Up" rating.

Wow... Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

Ambre Fetiche - Sounds nice with the incense and leather aspects. Will get a sample from TPC. Discounted prices online!
Ambre Russe - Still on the cards, and quite affordable actually! It's also available from Luckyscent which is a bonus!
Ambre 114 - Definitely something I need to try. Will try and get a sample, either from HdP or TPC. Bit expensive though.
Ambre Narguile - Also sounds like something I would really like, but seems quite expensive and difficult to get!
Ambre Nuit - Already have a decant, and I quite like it. Dry and spicy amber. Looking for some others to compare it to though!

Eau Lente - Tried it and didn't really like it. I think it's the oppoponax that I find a bit too resinous and nauseating.
Mitzah - Nice, but not really my thing. Smells a little too mature and feminine for me. I'd like to smell it on a sexy MILF! ;P
LDDM - Something else I really need to try, but a bit too expensive for me I suspect.

Thanks for all the help! Any more personal opinions on the above or other spicy ambers would be great!

Hi, Mistertaz........ in your original post, you made an interesting comment:-

I'm looking for something in between... An amber but with some sweeter oriental spices on top, like cinnamon and clove. If Egoiste and Ambre Precieux had a baby, that would be what I'm looking for!

Have you tried lightly layering these two? Sounds interesting and could be worthwhile...?

    @HDD8

I haven't gotten into layering fragrances to be honest. A bit worried about just confusing all the notes. Unfortunately I've run out of Egoiste, which is what actually triggered my recent obsession with finding a nice amber. When I pick up some more Egoiste I'll definitely try layering it with Ambre Precieux!

    Hi Guys,

Which Amber do you feel is purely and softly seductive. I'm looking for a killer and seductive Amber combo for my wife .

I love a combination of Amber, Vodka, patchouli, with vanilla notes. But nothing "too loud" that would invite a headache or "complicated".

Just a "go to" -- cant go wrong -- frag.

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

Dior Mitzah is the one you want.
