Default Carbone de Balmain - opinions please...

Just wonder; has anyone on the forum tried this one? Looked at fragrantica and the notes seems so interested. Nothing to be found on Fragrance directory here.

Could you please tell me your opinions of it.
    Similiar too what for example?
    Sillage/projection/longevity?

I personally like woody, incense-based scents, especially cedar.

    Any opinion would be appreciated.

I bought this when it first came out and I think it's a wonderful scent. If you like the notes, I think you'll like it.

I tried it on my hand this morning and had to buy it then and there. If you enjoy wood/incense this a very safe and affordable scent. Far superior to Ambre Gris.

If you like sweet scents with fig then it should be safe blind buy. I find it very enjoyable and pleasing.

A lot of incense in the beginning, then the scent becomes sweeter and finally turns into a copy of Givenchy Play Intense

Just blind bought both of these frags. $30 each, why not?! I'm excited Any more opinions on these two?

Smelled ALOT like Spicebomb to my nose, not really my kind of scent.

I am tempted to blind-buy this one, based on the notes. Its the only fragrance from Balmain without an available tester in the stores.
I am reading contradictory reviews: some say to be careful on the trigger as it is strong and some others say that you need to overapply as the fragrance is light and sillage is poor. Can someone enlighten me please? Thanks.

    Hi

Does this project well in cold weather? How is the longevity?

Hey, just saw this post appeared so I thought I'd drop in with my impressions now that I've had it for about a month or so.

It's good. It's a freshly shaved pencil and eraser smell with some dark fruit over the top of it (think figs, plums, etc.), just a little bit smoky because of the incense. It has a soft texture and roundness to it. It's drawback is that it's very quiet, a little too close to the skin at times, but I'd settle for this given its smooth texture.

It's not daring, pushing the envelope, or peculiar in any way. It's a very safe fragrance.

The marketing campaign for it is absurd. Pay no heed to it (when should you ever, really?). It mentions something about a gadget obsessed urban sophisticato who spends most of his time around things that are the color of carbon (), which is not even remotely close to what this fragrance conjures in the mind. It has a woodsy, indoors in a cabin, curl up to the fire with your dog at your feet kind of feel (which I'll take over the tech fiend anyway).

Worth exactly its pricepoint of $35 (which is not a bad thing).

    The bottle and atomizer sucks.

Graphite by Montana is better blended IMHO: not so harsh at first smell. Carbone's longevity is tenacious. I cannot state anything of the sort in the case of Graphite for I did not give it a full trial. But it did smell smoother.

Nice opening notes with sweet drydown. Too sweet for me. Pass.

Cedar in the top notes, I guess, should restrain the sweetness. I guess the JPG Le Mâle / A*Men template must be like kryptonite for you!

I like it but the longevity is, somehow, too much. Its longevity reminds my of indigestible pizza: 24 to 48 hours after havig eaten it, your stomach reminds you of that.

Grew tired of it rather quickly. It's not bad but we had to part.

Fun, unusual and inexpensive. You certainly get the carbon! . Sadly, it doesn't last on me....

Interesting. I have heard others also say that longevity is fleeting. Thankfully haven't had that experience with this one.

Don't let it stop you recommending stuff for me Hednic. I don't regret the purchase for a second. It's all part of the fun.

Molecular mysteries: that actually happens to me with Chanel's Cuir de Russie... almost an EdC. There are reviewers praising its longevity.

That, and perhaps how a scent reacts differently with each individual's skin.

BTW, a chemist working for IFF told me that there is no scientific ground for that. None of experiments done to check that out worked. Conclusion; they are lost as to how smells are decoded by the brain.

Works in you, doesn't work in me. Why? No one knows.

Its easy to find testers for this but full bottles are harder to come by and are much more expensive .

Yeah, they seem to run about $18 more expensive than the testers.
