Thread: Chanel No. 5 |
Can guys wear Chanel No. 5? I've never smelled this so I wouldn't know. But from the note breakdown it seems like it would be very top heavy with florals, sweet and loud.
I personally would never wear this. Can't speak for others.
I've worn the EDT. I think it smells better on a guy than it does on girls. Wouldn't wear any other concentration, though.
I have worn the edt and don't find it particularly "feminine" on my skin. However, the modern and the vintage are quite different in the drydown as the vintage has a deeper and more animalic musk. Both are excellent.
You can't wear it... I can't due to aldehydes overdose, i can't stand them![]()
... And do me a favor - don't disturb my friend. He's dead tired.
Welcome to the Bwahahaha! era...
TUM TUM PISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't see the problem with wearing No 5. It is not a pure floral, it's a rich combination. It is certainly not girly. As others were saying, the edp is more powerful. The current edt doesn't last long on me.
Usually, for men, people recommend Chanel No 5 Eau premiere, a variant of No 5 that's a little lighter and more citrusy.

When I gave it to my wife, I did so on the condition that she never wear it anywhere near me. I dislike it on women, and would hate it on myself.
Regards,
Renato
I think it would be fine to wear, except to the Water Bufffalo Lodge meeting. The Grand Poobah does not like it.

Guys can definitely wear Chanel No. 5. I wear the edp. If you want to be even a little more adventurous, I'd recommend Chanel No. 22 (Les Exclusifs), which is similar to No. 5 but more aldehydic and sweeter.
Current Top Five:
1. Bois des Iles--Chanel
2. George Sand--Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier
3. L'Ame Soeur--Divine
4. Violet Blonde--Tom Ford
5. Santal Blush--Tom Ford
Of course, you can. Another thought - Serge Lutens' La Myrrhe is admired by many (men) and smells very very close to a 1990s No. 5 EdP I once compared it with.
Yes, men can pull off No 5.
But, be aware, that many,
many, many people know
the smell, and will therefor
know what you're wearing.
It's pretty interesting. I am a huge fan, but many people hate it. I own a bottle of the extrait but I greatly prefer the EDT and would definitely wear it.

How many times has this been asked lol.....I think, yes a man can wear it BUT I would say only wear the current EDT all the rest are a bit to heavy and cloying. That is unless you are like me a could bath in No5 Pure Parfum lol
No. 5 is very aldehydic and brightly floral. That amount of aldehydes has been associated with womens' fragrances for the past 90 years, so generally I do find it is feminine smelling. I don't like aldehyde overdose in any form so I avoid it anyways.
If you look at my top 5 fragrances on Fragrantica, Old Lady is really my thing. My view is quite askew.
