    Default Dior Leather Oud

I recently purchased a 5ml sample of Leather Oud and it smells great! My problems with it seems to be longevity and projection. I'm going to give it a few more wearings before making a final judgment.

What other fragrances should I give a try with leather and oud as the notes? I currently have Montale Aoud Cuir d' Arabie and find it amazing also but again lacking in longevity and projection.

    Thanks for the assistance.

I don't think its a case of Olfactory Fatigue but could have been. I'll give it a few more tries as maybe my nose was just off those few days I wore it.

Both of the fragrances you mention have above average longevity. And precisely because of their strength they can cause habituation more quickly. Try applying them as far from your nose as you can, e.g. wrists, belly.

I don't have any problems with Leather Oud's longevity either. Montale Moon Aoud has leather in the notes, but there's a lot going on in that one.

It doesn't project like a beast but there's no longevity issues for me. Sometimes it causes olfactory fatigue due to it's smokey nature imo. Give a full wearing and you will smell it on yourself next day

That stuff has a deathgrip on my skin. I don't think you'll have many other options. In a similar vein are Xerjoff XJ Homme and Clive Christian C. Many would probably argue that they are better fragrances (and their prices reflect it). You could try them out and see whether your skin gobbles them up similarly.

I would say they are comparable in terms of longevity. Epic on me has fantastic projection, and I think Leather Oud may sit a little closer to the skin. I wouldn't really say they are very similar though.

If you could draw a map that featured both Harrods Oud and Puredistance M, I think Leather Oud would be somewhere near the midpoint.

I'm the guy that's always bitching about crappy longevity. Leather Oud lasts all day on me. You might want to ask a friend if they can smell you. I'm putting some big bucks on olfactory fatigue, and I've never said that to anyone before. Or a bad sample?

It is a real beast! Spraying from a big bottle is different from what u get in a sample or deccant! If you like a good leather-oud combo and don't mind the price tag treat yourself with Clive Christian's C for men, a master piece! Or give Tom Ford's a chance with his Tuscany-leather, very good too.

Actually, I find Harrods Oud to be skankier. It is uncharacteristically daring for a Bond No. 9. It might just be because the composition is a little more spare, but it allows the barnyard aspect of the oud to seep out a little more apparently.

Funny how two people can have a different view...not an argument though. Harrod's Oud is for me more like a real oud (even if artificial) and has that barnyardy thing going on. Leather oud is more like an incense oud but with a healthy dose of civet. At least that is my take on the two. Both are great.Perhaps they are a different type of skank? for lack of a better term.

I think maybe what im doing is comparing LO to the skank of real oud, which Harrods very much smells like. I do get the civet in LO so i guess it is dirty that way. But it mixes with the smoke and i think that sweetens the civet. In any case, it is a modern masterpiece.

I'm very surprised at your results, Rev320. I own both fragrances and both last for ages. Two sprays of Leather Oud lasts me all day, only one and a half of Cuir d'Arabie as that thing has monstrous strength and projection.

The honey just adds more of a musty, dirty quality to it. Same as it does in MFK Absolute Pour le Soir.

I clearly detected the honey in it without even reading the notes. The animalic note is due to leather IMO though.

Seems to be everyone's problem with everything on this site. Doesn't matter if it's Kouros or A*Men, the shit just never has enough "projection and longevity". Try some Viagra.

Leather Oud has massive radiance, oppressively so for the first hour or so. It lasts more than ten hours. Days and weeks on fabrics. Same goes for Oud Cuir d'Arabie although it lacks the Godzilla aromatic momentum of Leather Oud's first hour.

I've been noticing this too. I almost forget I'm even wearing it. Perhaps I'm anosmic to something in it? Some folks I talk to share my opinion of the incredibly fleeting duration of this while others swear it's beast. Perhaps 3 sprays isn't enough for this? If I spray too much on I get a very pungent civet (cat butt) stink, it's like a mix of butt and mothballs

I immediately purchased OI after getting it as a sample with my OL purchase. Both amazing scents, but I'd say OI has this way of sticking around for days. I can always detect this faint sweet note on an article of clothing that immediately makes me do a double take. I've gotten nothing but compliments on both, and have been quite pleased with my purchase.

One thing I have noticed with OI; the dry-down reminds me a bit of "Black Afgano", while LO just gets plain "skanky" on me. It's a very primal, or animal-esque scent that I don't mind at all.

I keep coming back to Leather Oud. The skank factor in the dry down sometimes scares me, as I fear someone close to me would think I smell like, well, old urine perhaps. Wearing Leather Oud a few times again recently, though, after not having smelled it in a good while, I'm noticing two things. First, I LOVE the first several hours of this fragrance. It's warm, butch, spicy, a bit mysterious. Second, the skank effect later on doesn't always fully kick in, and I'm starting to enjoy it, as long as I don't stick my nose right in it. There's something about that spiced honey civet accord which comes across as both a bit lascivious but also warm and snuggly. Anyone else have that response to the dry down?

One thing's for sure: I really admire this fragrance, even if it sometimes still scares me a bit.
