L'Occitane's Verbena is my husband's favorite scent, I think he has everyone of the body products. I made a joke to him the other day and asked him if he had bought the Verbena Breath Strips that they sell, and he thought I was serious. One of the previous flankers, the one that was bright yellow (like Joy dishwashing liquid) was a bit too Lemon-Pledge-y for my tastes, I prefer the verbena solo, that way it smells less synthetic. But, hey, this new one has mint and so of course I'll be testing it.

It wasn't in the L'Occitane store in Westport last Saturday, and when I asked the SA if she knew what the verbena flanker would be this year, she didn't know. It's also not on the website yet.

The light mint touch gives it a nice fizzy, chilled opening and then eases nicely into a cool verbena with a good dose of citrus to keep it on the thirst quenching side - the lime grapefruit idea works just fine.

I liked the ancillary products from the previous two, especially the shower gel from Citrus Verbena, but the EDT's didn't quite do it for me. I'd be happy to have this one round for a long hot summer - it's fun.

I had last year's Limited Edition but found it very simple after a while and too expensive for what it promised.

Tried Sorbet Verbena today at L'Occitane store. With the SA's prior okay, I gave myself 7 or 8 good sprays (that is a lot more than I normally spray from a tester, but I could from the single spray I first tried on my arm that this was going to be very light, and the SA didn't mind.)

Then we went next door to an ice cream shop. By the time I left the ice cream place, Sorbet Verbena was hard to detect unless I stuck my nose right down my shirt-- and even then, most of the smell was in the shirt itself. It's several hours later now and I am still getting the mint note in my shirt; it's long gone from skin.

Bottom line: I don't think this will be the must-have of the summer, but Sorbet Verbena is a pleasant-enough citrus/mint. Expect to reapply often, and do spray the clothing!

As for me, I could not part with $50 for so little sillage-- I don't want to have to walk around with my nose in my shirt. But I did buy the even lighter, alcohol-free Sorbet Verbena Refreshing Mist (1.7 oz, $16) which is small enough to tuck into my purse, to use for cooling off while running errands in this heat.

While at L'Occitane I briefly tried the 3 new Eaux (Universelle, Ravissante, and Captivante.) Universelle mostly smells of bergamot, Ravissante of a vaguely familiar, but pleasant, bath soap and Captivante was so nondescript that I will have to try it again someday as I've already forgotten it!
