    Default Dental Offices

This is my attempt as the first post ever to find out and define niche or designer scents that resemble dental office. Primarily methyl benzoate, formo creasol, metacresyl acetate, acrylic monomers or eugenol. In case you have no idea how any of these smell, just close your eyes and imagine your last visit to your dentist. Also, I do not care in case their receptionist wore Giorgio BH.

Thanks a million. You people rock.

Not sure if this fits the bill but Le Male is very dental office friendly to me. It smells clean and sterile. Quite lovely.

    Cloves.

Used because the eugenol works as an analgesic.

Do smell Poivre by Caron. Albeit the misnomer, it is like being dipped into a vat of Pemba Island clove oil.

For a less frantic approach to clove, try Hasu No Hana by Grossmith.

    You rock as well.

    Signed, husband of a dentist.

Tubereuse has a very medicinal quality that reminds me of sterile stark dental waiting rooms, Check out something that takes no prisoners like Serge Lutens - Tubereuse Criminelle.

Oh yes, Kron - thanks for reminding me re. tuberose.
    +1 Tubereuse Criminelle.
I had a real dental problem in 2009 . I wore By Kilian's tuberosey Beyond Love for my dental visits. Yes, there is a sterile stark quality about it - that slight cool almost menthol scent. Beyond Love = dentist to me now.

Dental offices don't have an appealing smell to me so I can only suggest a bunch of fragrances that while recalling this atmposhere, I don't really get along with them...

    Caswell Massey Michelsen's Bay Rum
    Serge Lutens Serge Noire

    +1 Grev. Alfarom's an ace.

I have to think there's something in one of those ODriu envelopes that would fit this bill. Even though I don't dare open them.

What does that red topical anesthetic smell like? It has such a strong flavor, but I can't recall what it's like.

I hate that stuff. Just stick the needle in, I say.

I think it's because of the salicylate (as in the aspirin) who give this medical effect of coldness / anti inflammatory.

I just had a few fillings done over two days and both times I wore Prada Amber for no other reason than it makes me feel so relaxed. I went pretty light too, didn't want to blow anyone out.

This is not related to what you're asking, but I have communicated empathy to my dentist with nothing but the vapors of Santal Masso´a: http://www.basenotes.net/threads/300626-Uh-oh

Surprised none have mentioned the obvious dental office stinker of all time: YSL KOUROS

When I wore Kouros often in high school, my teacher would often ask me if I just came from the dentist because I smelled so medical and hospital sterilizing fresh - I told him it was just YSL Kouros.

But I agree, Kouros has that smell of a dentist room.

Many in here says Kouros smells like urinal cake, but I smell dentist room, when I apply Kouros......

I love Kouros and it's one of my favorite scents of all time.
I hate detist rooms, so go figure

Also Halston Z-14 smells very medical sterilizing hospital like - but not dentist like, more hospital surgical room like, and Z-14 and Kouros don't come even close to each other in smell, they just both have that medicine cabinet vibe going but in 2 quite different ways.....

Unfortunately, Grey Vetiver in mid development gets a latex glove scent that is somewhat reminiscent of the sterile scents of dental offices. I say unfortunately, because it's such a great fragrance in every other respect.

I thought Serge Lutens - Amber Sultan - smelled like dentist's office when I tried it.
I like many others by SL though.

To me, Vanallie Galante resembles a dental office well.. I dunno why, maybe the smell of rubber gloves, with the cooling vanilla effect. Aside from that, one day I wore Live Jazz to the dentist, ironically with a mint note, and it worked out very well with the atmosphere. It will forever be my dental scent lol.
