Default Amouage Interlude and Amouage Beloved

Just visited the Amouage Store in Dubai, and the sales person mentioned that Amouage will be releasing two new fragrances - Amouage Interlude and Beloved.

The notes aren't released yet, but he was hoping to get it released in the next couple of weeks. There has been some chatter about Amouage Beloved as a female fragrance in a pink box, however, I can't seem to find much on Amouage Interlude.

Can't wait to find out what Amouage has in its bag of goodies :-)

Beloved has been out for a bit and there are reviews floating around. I haven't really followed it as it's pretty clearly a women's scent, from what I gather. First I've heard of Interlude, though, so thanks!

Also, I know Opus VII is coming - it's supposed to be a leather/galbanum oriented scent. I know that Alberto Morillas is either behind Opus VII, or their new mainline release which is also coming soon (personally, that is AWESOME news IMO, as I love Morillas' style.). I can't quite recall which one it was though - Christopher Chong tweeted about it awhile ago but my memory is bad.

Opus VII sounds like something right up my street. Iím just not particularly keen on Alberto Morillas being on board (if this is correct), as heís been responsible for a lot of dreck. But, then again, that was my initial impression with Opus IV and grew to love it.

Iím also very curious about Interlude but know that only one of these two may become a possible contender.

Based on these, as well as Beloved, letís hope Amouage is taking a break from the masculine-feminine duos this year.

Can't wait to check out Interlude. Saw Beloved is retailing at $430. I hope they're not planning on that sort of absurd price for Interlude.

Have been working on Opus VII since 2010. The masters have sent me some truly amazing reworks!!!!! This is SO SO SO OMG!!!!!

@NeelaVermeire well, I'm the apprentice and they're the masters. So overexcited that I was able to get Alberto Morillas and Pierre Negrin.

    Thanks for the info, SculptureOfSoul.

Although the mentioned perfumers' CVs don't greatly excite me, I have no doubts about it being up to the same standards as the other Opuses. In fact, Opus VII may possibly confirm a personal theory that I mused on a few months ago - my favourite Opuses appear to be released in increments of three (Opus I, Opus IV...). That in itself would be quite exciting to conclude.

As odd as it sounds that does seem plausible. Some concepts will surely take more trials than others. It's like writing a song or any creative endeavor - sometimes things just come together, and sometimes it takes ridiculous effort. Maybe Opus VII is going to be grander in scale once again. I found that Opus III and IV were both very complex scents, while V and VI seemed simpler.

Regarding the issue over who composed Dia Woman, I imagine they simply sent the brief to a company (who was it that they had listed for Ubar - Creations Aromatiques I believe?) and then the company had whomever internally develop it, and somehow (or for some particular reason, perhaps?) the info as to who the perfumer was was never communicated between the two companies.

I admit, it's still weird. I can possibly understand them not knowing the perfumer, but I find it hard to believe that they couldn't get the information if they wanted. Perhaps there is more to it - some kind of contractual thing? Maybe it was some noob perfumer and they thought the name would tarnish people's perception of the scent (although they've listed apprentice perfumers before, like those who worked on Honour Woman whose names I can't even recall, but I believe they were both young/new perfumers).

Seems like a gimmicky thing (or a way to drum up some type of lore/myth) to say it's a mystery perfumer, but that's just me. I'm sure they know who they paid to make it

I heard many glowing reviews of Opus VI so I'm still kicking myself for having yet to sample it.

Opus VII sounds good too but galbanum is typically a dealbreaker note for me. Its incredibly sharp, pungent "green" aroma almost always induces a headache for me.

I'm sure most of us were already well-aware of this but that tiny nugget of information was still worth noting. Hopefully, this is a positive sign and it's more of an aggressive leather-galbanum combo than an apologetic one.

    I like Beloved.

Just a spritz on paper and on my wrist, but enough to want to try it again. Now try this for size: basenoter Coconut was with me and she felt it leaned towards Dia (Woman). The SA, who knows her stuff, felt it leaned a little towards Honour Woman. My impression (as a guy who lacks any deep understanding of overtly 'femme' fragrances) was that I could detect the DNA of Gold Woman underneath a lighter 'pink' floral, but with a distinctly punchy, almost finely chopped and cooked 'nutty' note, like you get in some expensive Italian desserts - sweetly spiced and glazed. Trying to remember the name of the one I can picture in my mind - I think pistachio and a hint of a dried green fruit are involved, but this is a grace note, subtle undercurrent, it's the florals that carry the day.

Well, at least we all agree it's an Amouage! Personally I love it, it's not as strong a statement as Gold, it's more romantic in a sense, and I would love to have a woman on my arm wearing this stuff - the more the better, actually. I don't quite get the higher price point, maybe there are some ingredients that are pricey, maybe it's just because it's a Limited Edition and a smaller production run bumps up costs proportionately, compared to the bigger runs of the other 100ml's.

It's beautiful, a very romantic fragrance that doesn't shout.

No sign of Interlude yet, they will call when it shows.

I don't care for the underlying, Amouage stench, in Beloved. Too Goldish for me.

Interlude Woman ~ a floral chypre developed by perfumer Karine Vinchon Spehner; notes feature bergamot, grapefruit, ginger, marigold, incense, rose absolute, orange blossom, helichrysum, jasmine, opoponax, vanilla, benzoin, amber, sandalwood, oud, oak moss, leather, tonka bean, animalic notes and musk.

Interlude Man ~ a spicy woods developed by perfumer Pierre Negrin; notes feature bergamot, oregano, allspice berries, amber, incense, cistus, opoponax, leather, oud, patchouli and sandalwood.

    - - - Updated - - -

Ok, I am really excited for man (seems odd... oregano + allspice in a woody amber oud base?) but I think I am even MORE excited for Woman, done by the amazing Karine Vinchon Spehner (who did Opus III and Memoir Man). I wish she would have done the men's scent, as I absolutely love her work.

SOS - when is Interlude coming to the US ?

Thebeck very sweetly , sent me a sample of Beloved . Thanks !

I've tried it once so I'll have to retry again before I say too much .
Though I will say Amouage went the safe route for Bergdorf and the scent is quite lady like and smells like a perfume from the 70s in the dry down . I couldn't place which perfume it reminds me of but it's familiar .
    It's soft and vintage - y though tenacious .
In fact one of the thoughts that went through my mind is that Beloved reminds me of how my Great Grandmother's room smelt . There is some old fashioned type soap to Beloved .

More assorted info grabbed from Christopher Chong's Twitter:

"The busy abstract art represents the social and natural chaos and disorder, which are the inspirations for these two fragrances."

"Moving on, the latest development with Opus VII smells so RAUNCHY and SWEATY. Nice...hahhahah"

" INTERLUDE for man and woman will be launched at Lane Crawford, Hong Kong first." (elsewhere he said this is going to be on June 25th)

No mention that I can find of a US release. I'll ask him and report back.

Tried Beloved in Dubai and I really liked it. It struck as the most classic, and chypre-like of all the Amouages. I tested it twice and I came to the conclusion that it's a no-holds-barred rose chypre in the most typical manner; mossy, honeyed and having animalic nuances...yet refined without being too loud or ostentatious. It reminded me heavily of Soir de Lune; but Beloved is softer and a bit more refined. Rose chypre lovers...this one's for you.

    EDIT: Jubilation is more chypre-like.
