Default Anyone try the 2012 formulation of Habanita?

The Molinard website has a campaign for an EDP formulation of Habanita with this copy

    HABANITA Eau de Parfum

This Eau de Parfum is a re-discovery of the alchemy of this mixture of complex essential oils. Habanita offers a new fresh side, whilst maintaining what is essential : strenght, depth, poetry, a touch of originality, unlike any other.

Its new box is simpler, more radical : elegant, contempaorary, darkand sweet at the same time. It has the same Lalique border especially designed for Habanita, a red and black invitation to discovery and re-discovery.

    Listed notes:
Note de tête : Petitgrain - Citron
    Note de coeur : Héliotrope - Vétiver - Cèdre - Rose centifolia - Jasmin - Mimosa - Ylang-ylang
Note de fond : Ambre - Vanille - Santal - Pachouli - Mousse de chêne

I have both vintage (60's) and modern (2009) EDTs. This is really tempting me (especially since they are having a 20% off the entire site sale this weekend)

Has anyone tried the new EDP??

Heck of a nice looking bottle, if that's any measure of the stuff :

Mine just arrived today and, at least to my nose, this is nice stuff. The original, which I do like, was just a tad too powdery for me to wear often but this EDP seems to have the vetiver turned up just enough that it is just ever so slightly more peppery than the original and thus deeper and more wearable.

I've tried it too and it doesn't disappoint!

Molinard did a beautiful job reformulating it to make the EDP - it has the same character, ingredients, great lasting power and that amazing vetiver-vanilla accord that's to die for. It's still dark and strong, with all the leathery, tobacco-like quality of the original. The beautiful bottle is a big plus too.

Our own Le Mouchoir de Monsieur (aka lMdM or similar) is something of a connoisseur of Habanita - he gives the new EDP an unreserved thumbs up:

BEYOND: HABANITA EAU DE PARFUM IS A NEW MASTERPIECE OF FRENCH PERFUMERY. PERFECTION ON EVERY LEVEL.

It's not often--or--wait--has it ever happened? that a reform -out does- the original? Considering this was "not just any" original, we have here proof that a reform can actually be an improvement, and not, as so often they are (speaking to you, here, Guerlain) yet another train wreck.

I bought a bottle and posted my impression on the TIB thread. Molinard has set a standard here that all other re formulators should aspire to.

I am bumping this thread to add my opinion:

I tested the new EdP just a few days ago and honestly, I am not fond of it at all. It is quieter, subtler, duller. Habanita is now a non-smoker, much more well-behaved, but still manages to smell somewhat of Habanita. For a 2012 reformulation it is probably not bad, but she lost profile, character and (her) style on the way.

I wished I would have made a stock of the EDT earlier in the year when the new Habanita EDP was released. Molinard is still having 20% off but the prices everywhere really went up for the EDT. Which only emphasizes that the new one is different than what we know. I am a huge fan of the fragrance, it remains for me a masterpiece, and while you clearly find the trace of the ancestor in the new one, it's an edulcorated version only, aimed at pleasing everybody who was having a hard time loving the dark side of the original one. Habanita without the dark side is just not Habanita! All in all, such a shame!!! I wish they could only produce both in parallel, the EDT for all of us real fans of Habanita and the new EDP for whoever they planned to please with it. But it does not seem so, it seems that the EDT is discontinued and only the new EDP version remains. Another commercial incongruence in the long list of pretty, clean and soul-less reformulations.

Bumping this to get more input on the EDT v. the EDP.

I understand they are not the same, too.

Love the EDP bottle. Very Lalique.
