    Default Varvatos Artisan

I really like this fragrance... but undecided about the soapy notes I get. anyone else just get that?

Also do you prefer the original or the black?

From what i remember it smelled a little thin for my taste...i prefer the richer original.

I liked Artisan, but it was very light/weak on me. Plus...it made my wife gag when she smelled it. She really enjoyed Artisan Black, though...as did I. Lasted longer. Projected better. Was never soapy on me, but I got some of that baby powder smell a few hours in (some people don't like that).

I absolutely love the smell of Artisan. However, the longevity was so abysmal I have to pass on buying a full bottle.

I don't get any soapy notes with it.

    I had the original twice.
    Artisan twice.
    Artisan Black I still have.
Rock Volume One I still have, waiting for 2 unless STAR USA is actually 2.
I have 10th Anniversary which is a signature fragrance of mine in the Fall and winter, along with Vintage and I'm on the third bottle just purchased Wednesday.
I love John Varvatos fragrances and they love me. For some reason they are ALL magic on my skin. I get compliments constantly from my girlfriend and other strange. My brother sniffs up on me and says "dude, what are you wearing?" I tell him best kept secrets. John Varvatos fragrances are under rated. STAR USA is the weakest as far as quality, but good as a throw on when lounging.

So to answer your question. Artisan YES and Artisan Black YES for Spring and Summer. GO FOR IT. If you wear it well, they are unique.

I own John Varvatos original, and I don't know how it compares to Artisan in terms of longevity and projection, but is it the juice that doesn't actually last that long or is because the sprayers are absolutely horrible ?

Might need to decant it into another atomizer with a very good spritz.

Artisan is sweet, but vintage is more boozy. Artisan black is more special then artisan I think. But I would go with the original JV. You can buy a girt set with 15mls of each right now. I picked mine up at Macy's.
