thanks for the welcome dollars&scents good suggestions
i'm liking rive gauche and gucci ph ii at this point, and might try the latter just from what i've read about it. I remember Gucci PH I reacting very badly to my skin though-- it smelled like urinals or urinal cakes. Does GPHII have any of that?

Nothing about Gucci ph I and II are similar except the name and bottle shape. Ph II is very pleasant. I would try rive gauche and Gucci ph II both on your skin and buy whichever one you like best

Sartorial by Penhaligon's is hands-down my favorite work scent, although I'm not quite as young a professional as you (32)... I feel the classical fougere structure says to the world, "I'm mature, experienced, and I'm not here for any bullshit", while the warmth of the added beeswax and honey notes hint that there's some sensitivity behind the alpha male exterior. At $120 for 3.4oz, it's a little more than you're looking to spend, but well worth it.

I think that there are a few great scents out there for a man in your age group that you should definitely check out.
    Guerlain Homme
    Varvatos Vintage
    Cartier Roadster
    Kenzo Power
Those are 4 scents that will be noticed as unique, and can be worn all seasons for all occasions.
Currently wearing: Allure Homme by Chanel

That's what I like about Antaeus. It says "I'm here, I'm bigger then you and you do not want to cross me". And whilst saying that it still remains classy. Sort of Gordon Gekko in a perfume bottle.
