Was that the London store? I've checked Selfridges online, but they don't list it.

Wow, and to think I've avoided vintage Chanels for this long. Egoiste will be my introduction point to them. I finally cracked and bought a bottle recently. After years of holding off on a scent I thought was too rubbery, too sweet, too oriental for all but winter wear.....I finally got a good one. I feel foolish now for ever even thinking Platinum Egoiste (in it's non-rubbery, rich vintage formula) was ever better than the OG Egoiste.

I agree with Petrucci, Egoiste is a masterpiece.

Well, I was wearing Egoiste today and visited my Mum, and she remarked how much she liked it. I told her I think it's one of the very best, but I only have a 4ml sample bottle of it - and she promptly ordered a 100ml bottle for me for my birthday

I got it online. I'm confused by the Selfridges layout as they only list Bleu for men and Chance for women; your best bet would be to call the store.

Thanks - I don't need to now cos my Mum has ordered me a bottle from uk.strawberrynet.com, but I'll keep Selfridges in mind for next time.

Anyone know where I can find Egoiste in Canada?

I really dislike Chanel's from the ones I sampled and only enjoyed Edition Blanche. I need to try this apparent classic as it contains some of my favourite notes.

Egoiste is a scent I always discover anew when I spray it on, however it'd be unbearable to wear it now as there is this heat wave in Europe right now.

I own a small bottle of the original Cologne Concentree of Egoiste. It is definitely niche quality juice. To be worn when wearing your finest attire. It is a sacred cow in the fragrance community. Every gentleman should have a bottle of egoiste in the wardrobe. Fine stuff.

I personally find the newer a bit more water-down, less heavy on the cinnamon.
The vintage was sweeter ,deeper and rounder.

Concentree is awesome. Saw one half bottle of splash version on eBay today.

I have to correct my opinion about Egoiste.

Today I finally gave Egoiste full wearing on my skin (not just test strip). Right now its around 2 hours since I sprayed it on my skin and I'd say its like cross between Opium PH middle notes and Musc Ravageur top notes with some woods behind. I guess that it will change a lot till basenotes and I dont smell any rose yet but so far Egoiste is definitely better than Platinum Egoiste (too sharp and dry), Antaeus (old school) or Bleu De Chanel (makes me sneeze). And its not as feminine as I thought before (it is as "feminine" as Opium PH). Maybe I will finaly join its fanclub ?

Teemas definitely try it again on skin. I also did same mistake before and always sampled Egoiste just on test strip but you need patience with this one and it gets better over time. If you love Musc Ravageur you will like Egoiste.

    Update:
Its 10 hours since application. It didnt evolve much after those first 2 hours. Just became less intense and close to skin version of what I smelled before.
    Good smelling? Indeed!
Groundbreaking? Not sure. I will keep trying but I still prefer a bit Opium PH which has similiar vibe but is maybe more daring and stronger (but also not that elegant).

    Update 2:
BTW when I sampled Egoiste my SOTD was Dior Homme. My girlfriend strongly prefered Dior Homme over Egoiste (I do too because I find it more modern and overall better smelling) and also said that Egoiste smells way more feminine than Dior Homme (which according to her nose is not feminine at all..)

I just blind bought Chanel BDI EDT from the current Exclusifs line. Can anyone comment if this frag is on the more feminine floral/powder side...I'm a bit worried and wondering if I'm going to have buyers remorse when it arrives.

For me, BdI is neutral / less masculine than Egoiste EDT. Also, it doesn't get powdery at all on my skin; all you'll get mostly is the blast of somewhat unpleasant aldehyde opening for a couple of minutes, then really light and smooth florals, sandalwood, and vanilla.
