    Gooood morning!
    Rise and shine sunshines!
Time to get us started this Saturday morning and I'm happy it's me again.

My parents went to the seaside for a long weekend but I stayed home because I've got to learn - just one more exam to go before getting my university 1st degree.

No perfume yet. I'm off to do some food shopping in a few minutes. When I get back I'll prepare some mint tea from freshly picked leaves and surround myself with books for a mayor part of the day. If the weather is ok I'll go for a bike ride in the afternoon. Riding a bike is a great break and relax for me while studying.

Scent of the day will be Serge Lutens Fleurs de Citronnier. Will put it on right after the shopping. And I made a promise, so expect my review of it later today.

Not sunny here after what was hail last night, but I lucked out with very little, unlike the major highway about 100 km west of Vienna, which had to be closed...
I'm marinating in Jicky EdP, listening to a Dinah Washington CD I bought a while back and obviously have not cared or had the time to pay attention. I think breakfast is a good idea now after this lazy start to the day... yaaaaaaaaaawn

Off to the ballet tonight: A friend of mine from Germany is in town for a few days visiting her sister and asked if I could get tickets. Of course, I was only too happy to oblige. So, not only do I get to watch the Prince of the Pagodas, but I get to do so in the fine company of two lovely women. Feel like the cat that got the cream

Have a lovely Saturday all, and belated congrats to Ineespenes !

Lucasai, good luck on your exam!

I'm starting the day in Hermes Vetiver Tonka. It has that cardboard smell so common to many of the Ellenas, and that quality is really standing out this morning. Further, also like so many Ellenas, it's a bit subtle (or a bit weak, depending on your worldview). All in all, I'm not happy, so I think I will have to swap this. Stay tuned for what I end up in later. :-)

    Have a great day, everyone!

I'm going through some old samples this morning and now I'm in irises, two of 'em. Le Labo's Iris 39, and Iris Oriental by Parfumerie General. Both are beautiful, but I'm rather smitten with Iris 39 ...I think it needs to be on my wish list.

    Y'all have a great day!

Congratulations ineespenes - at last!! Here's to you!

Study hard today, Lucas! You're almost there! Yes, please be sure to take a break and share a review with us!

Going to be crazy hot here today and I honestly can't remember when we last had rain. Already a scorcher of a summer here in Indiana. Will be Un Jardin Apres la Mousson for me as I'll be outdoors in that heat.

Our city's Germanfest is going on now and Mr. PL are off to see- get this- The Wiener Dog Finals. Yep, people from all over the world come here to race their little wiener doggies! Have meant to get downtown for this for so many years, will be so cute!

Germanfest is a BIG deal here- a large portion of our population claims German descent of some sort. And it kicks off our summer festival season- will be 3 months of great food and drink and celebrating every culture under the sun from now until summer's over. We do live in a fun city!

Your area sounds like Milwaukee, another city that boasts summers full of multi-cultural food and music festivals. Thank you everyone for wishing me a good luck on my final exam! A big hug for all of you!
And now it's my time for a review of Serge Lutens Fleurs de Citronnier

Fleurs de Citronnier welcomes you with a vibrant, straight-in-your-face note of lemon blossoms (fleurs de citronnier). It's very intensive, citric giving you the feeling of real citrus fruits with rinds blended into this Serge Lutens composition. Note that there are officialy no lemon, orange or grapefruit notes listed. While intensive, this phase is also cool and sheer, it's plesant, absolutely inoffensive. Then the lemon blossom opening become less loud when musky tones appear. In this place the fragrance get's more sensual and "sits" comfortably on ones skin. After some time a neroli note get's the serenade, while musk and lemon blosson play some violin in the background. The fragrance here becomes more citric again, but the feeling is different than the one initially given by an orange blossom. Neroli makes it more flowery, but still reserved and elegant. As the jasmine notes appear Fleurs de Citronnier creates an exclusive smelling soapy vibe. It smells very clean, fresh and invigorating. It creates the aroma that imitates the feeling after a shower. At some point Fleurs de Citronnier reminded me a lot about Le Labo Iris 39. Both fragrances share that interesting aroma of fresh laundry hanging on a string in the open air. Petit grain probably creates this fun vibe. The soapy feeling is far different from the one we get from Prada Infusions, d'Iris and d'Homme as Serge Lutens creation doesn't have the powdery vibe created by iris. But different doesn't wean it's worse. It's definitely not worse. In some aspects it's even better. Hours after application Fleurs de Citronnier settles into a gorgeous smelling skin scent. You can detect musky notes and there's still some neroli left, and a warming hint of honey-waxy notes is tingling quietly.
As for the citrusy-floral fragrance (I think citrus-floral is an appropriate category for Fleurs de Citronnier) it has an excellent lasting power. The perfume stayed on my skin for 6 hours - that's the time I could easily smell it, I still can sense it when I put my wrist up to my nose. Sure it could last an extra hour or two, but hey, 6 hours is a great time to enjoy the scent. Serge Lutens Fleurs de Citronnier also has a great, very appropriate sillage that becomes smaller as it evolves on your skin. I didn't have much luck smelling Serge Lutens fragrances until now - Fleurs de Citronnier is a gorgeous scent that really understands the wearers skin. Not only it smells divine, but it does smell like made of top quality ingredients. If you ask me - this fragrance is a great choice if you're looking for joyful summer skinscent. It made my smile all day!

lucasai, that's a very nice review and I fully agree that Fleurs de Citronnier is mood-lifting, easy-going.
I am not particularly fond of layering, but I decided that I should give it a try with Knize Ten and Tabac Blond. The mixture was a bit too much dominated by the gasoline aspect of Knize Ten for my taste, although the whole mixture is surprisingly quiet. So, after a while I applied another layer of Tabac Blond on top. Smelling good tonight ^^
    Love to all!

    What a gorgeous hibiscus, Wooznib!

The gardens were beautiful today. We just got home a few minutes ago. It has become very hot and I feel worn out now. We went to the butterfly exhibit in the conservatory first -- wow! That was so lovely! All these colorful butterflies were flying around us, lying on the paths (you have to be careful not to step on them), alighting on plants. Some were huge and some were tiny. Did you know they only live for about two weeks? I didn't. We looked at the orchids and tropical plants. Then we meandered down to the ROSE garden where my nose got such a workout - so many different types of roses, and each with its own distinct scent. There was a pale yellow tea rose that was my favorite. Some roses had a spicy smell, some smell very green, some are so intensely perfumed they smell fake, and the white ones have a very faint scent. The shrub roses have velvety scarlet petals and a green/spicy rose scent. The hydrangea garden was in bloom, all different kinds; and there were these ENORMOUS lotus blossoms by the lake. They were gorgeous. Also these fantastic structures made from saplings all woven together and that look like a little palace with minarets that you can wander in and out of. Very cool. We had lunch at the tea house - seared tuna salad and two glasses of riesling. After that we went to the children's garden to watch them playing in the water garden, and watched them in the drumming circle. They were so cute, having such a great time. Then back home...it was getting too hot to be outside in the sun anymore and my riesling had made me feel sleepy.

Speaking of Fleurs Citronnier (which I don't have, but I love the smell of live lemon blossoms), I'm now having a little lie down in my cool dark bedroom and I'm wearing Pacifica's Malibu Lemon Blossom, which is pretty and cooling, lemony + floral. I feel happy.

Lilybelle. Sounds like you had a great day! I've been to the butterflies exhibit once. One of the butterflies liked the turqoise color of my glasses frames and decided to sit on them, that was funny.

The rose garden must smell lovely, I can't imagine so many different rose aromas. It's like a perfumista heaven. I especially like the tea-rose, it's coloured beige-pink and the petal edges have a colour of a brewed tea.

They had one like that! It was lovely - sort of a pale blush peachy-pink more like brewed tea toward the edges. It was so lovely. I had to sniff each and every type of rose there. Also at the conservatory there were gardenias to sniff (heavenly!). That's funny about the turquoise butterfly alighting on your glasses. I saw two like that chasing each other, they don't even fly, they just sort of waft around on the air, weightless. They almost look artificial.

It's been all about the Hypnotic Poison Elixir this weekend.

I got the bottle without the pump spray(has a normal sprayer) and for FYI:

There were two versions of the elixir bottle. The first one was with the pump spray, the second one with the normal sprayer. Maybe because of the many complaints that the pump sprayer leaks easily. The second version without the pump sprayer also used to be on the Dior website.

So wondering if the later version of the Elixir bottle with the normal sprayer has maybe reformulated juice inside? I haven't smelled the juice from the earlier pump spray.

Oh where is Le Grand Duc when you need him??? Where has he been?

That's both funny and true! I'm a fan of the vintage Rochas Femme.

I'm wearing Tea for Two today.

I love Iris Oriental, and have been thinking I need to try Iris 39 - I'm surprised I haven't acquired a sample of it somewhere along the line.

Last night I dreamed I was driving home from work and saw a sign that said "Jicky St.", and I wanted to stop and take a photo for the folks on Basenotes.

Today I am wearing Nostalgie by Sonoma Scent Studio. This stuff is pretty awesome. If you like vintage-style aldehydic creamy florals, you owe it to yourself to get a sample.

(((Carolina Girl))), everything will be fine. I do understand how you feel though. Saying a prayer for you.

Matildaben, that’s so cute: Jicky Street.

Shadesofbleu, do check out your local butterfly house. It’s so interesting, and they are so beautiful. The gardens outside the exhibit were swarming with native butterflies and bees, which was good to see.

    I’m wearing Chantilly this evening.

    Hey y'all -

I'm in Badgley Mischka's luminous Fleurs de Nuit for the rest of the day. Enjoy your evening, everyone!

Oh kalli - you asked about the magnolia in FdN, and I can detect it now that I know it's in there, but it's more of a nuance than a note, imo. It's a very well-blended floral composition though, so even the jasmine doesn't really stand out so much. It's really grown on me ...I think it's rather gorgeous, actually, and definitely the best of the three Badgley Mischkas.

lilybelle - your afternoon with the flowers and butterflies sounds almost magical! They really are special little creatures.

((carolina girl)) - adding my best wishes to all the good thoughts headed your way ...you and your peepers will be just fine!
Science is not only compatible with spirituality, it is a profound source of spirituality. When we recognize our place in an immensity of light-years and in the passage of ages, when we grasp the intricacy, beauty, and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling, that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual. ..Carl Sagan
