You have decided to buy one before smelling them? If you don't have one in mind I don't see how that works...none of them resemble L'homme. I wouldn't say any of them are absolutely safe to blind buy, maybe check out Oud Wood and Neroli Portofino.

All we can give you about Private Blend stuff is our personal opinions. They are very specific fragrances and aren't much like most other things on the market. If I had to pick one it would be Tuscan Leather or Noir de Noir. Maybe Arabian Wood or Oud Wood.
    My Top Ten:

    1: Guerlain - Habit Rouge
    2: Guerlain - Jicky
3: Guerlain - Mouchoir de Monsieur
    4: Guerlain - Shalimar
    5: Knize - Knize Ten
    6: Caron - Yatagan
7: Caron - Pour Un Homme
    8: Jean Desprez - Bal a Versailles
    9: Yves Saint Laurent - M7
10: Salvador Dali - Dali Pour Homme

No way I could recommend a blind buy on any TF Private Blend. They are all so different. Each one of us has our favorites, and to recommend based on our tastes for an expensive fragrance like these would not be fair.

I agree about not recommending any for blind buying. This is Tom Ford we're talking about, not Creed. There are no "Green Irish Tweed" or "Millesime Imperial" type safe scents in the Private Blend line. They are almost all singular, dark, powerful fragrances and some are love or hate (Lavender Palm being the hate). This isn't a good gateway niche line. This is the hardcore ish mane. Plus it's $195 for the smallest size bottle unless you get in on a split. No way can I recommend you to blind buy any of the Tom Ford line.

However, my favorites from my wardrobe in order are:

    1. Amber Absolute
    2. Noir de Noir
    3. Tobacco Vanille
    4. Moss Breches
    5. Oud Wood
    6. Italian Cypress
    7. Tuscan Leather
    8. Neroli Portofino
    9. Arabian Wood
    10. Japon Noir
    11. Black Violet
"I am a robot and I like cheese"

    Top 5:
    1. Axe Kilo
    2. Lectric Shave
    3. Vicks Vapor Rub
    4. Febreze Pour Homme
    5. Preferred Stock
