Default About Red Aoud, White Aoud and Black Aoud

So I just sampled these 3 Montales (along with Pretty Fruity and Chocolate Greedy I really like those two lol), but am still somewhat new to the aoud note (only M7 I've tried before I guess that has it though I absolutely despise that fragrance, the medicinal smell gets me bad). I got these as vials from surrendertochance but I thought these things were supposed to be "scary and unpleasant" especially Black Aoud. I gotta say....I like them, Red Aoud especially is really nice, sweetish too, totally didn't expect that. Black Aoud I expected to blow my face off or something, yeah it's a strong masculine smell but not bad, there's something about it that I like too (all 3 smell similar to an extent). I guess it's the rose that makes it for me, no wonder I see it in some many other fragrances along with aoud.
Are all aouds this , I dont wanna say pleasant but tolerable I guess, I really was expecting something downright nasty (like that f***** civet cat piss smell or something that disgusting) but was surprised, this stuff is actually nice? Would you recommend any others to sample or any others which you see as more wearable or even more conforming?
Also which one of these 3 Montales is your fave?

Black Aoud is my favorite, and crown jewel of Montale IMO. My second favorite is Aoud Flowers.

Do not define your interpretation of oud from Montale.
But yes Oud is a wonderful smell. Its neither disgusting nor piss-smelling. But some ouds are animalic and smell, well, shitty in a lovely way.

I like White Aoud. Red Aoud smells like cookies after a while. It ain't bad; just ain't me. Black Aoud reminds me too much of Jovan Woman or Youth Dew in the dry-down. White Aoud has the best balance for me. I do agree with other reviewers that refer to it as being "fluffy", but I still like it more that the others.

Personally I find Oud Cuir D'Arabie to be the standout in the Montale's range but considering your aversion to animalic notes you should probably stay well away from it.. That beng said I also quite like both Black Aoud and Red Aoud. If you'll have the chance, give a test to Dark Aoud which is a dry oudy-leathery sandalwood. Great stuff. Aoud Musk is another one you might want to consider if you like saffron.

I'd actually take Aoud Musk over all three. I've been contemplating on getting it. I better do it soon...with all the tumultuous affairs going on with Montale.

I would like to second the recommendation for Dark Aoud, it is really good.

Of the three I love Black Aoud. A wonderful rose scent that I wore yesterday in fact. If you like Black Aoud, you might try Aoud Lime too. Agree with alfarom about Dark Aoud.

I guess you're coming to understand that it's all a matter of personal preference.

Out of these three, I found myself liking Red Oud the best.

I dont want to hijack this thread but is there any Montale that smells just like drydown of White Aoud but without first hour of medicinal oud?
