I think you just answered your own question. ;-) If you like those two, you probably will like Chergui.

They're totally different in terms of execution/styling and liking each one individually is no guarantee that you'll like the other. I love and own TV, I find SDV nice and simplistic (but would never buy it) and I dislike Chergui. It's worth sampling it first, especially with something expensive and when a sample can be acquired so easily and cheaply from Lucky Scent.

    Why not sample it first?

Chergui is easy to like though I think it gets too sweet in the drydown. The odd's are in your favor for a blind buy.

The only thing they have in common is their sweetness factor. But yes, if you can stomach Siritueuse Double Vanille, you'll be able to like Chergui.
    My Top Ten:

    1: Guerlain - Habit Rouge
    2: Guerlain - Jicky
3: Guerlain - Mouchoir de Monsieur
    4: Guerlain - Shalimar
    5: Knize - Knize Ten
    6: Caron - Yatagan
7: Caron - Pour Un Homme
    8: Jean Desprez - Bal a Versailles
    9: Yves Saint Laurent - M7
10: Salvador Dali - Dali Pour Homme

Chergui is sweet yes, but reading about it is completely different to it's actual scent (in my opinion) - it wasn't enough for me and I found it rather muted and flat - I'm a huge Lutens fan and this is one of his frags that I've tried numerous times and have been unimpressed - I'd pick Tobacco Vanille over it any day.
Having said that - definitely sample. Lutens' exports are so easy and cheap to get ahold of for samples no need not to.

It's a fine scent - but for tobacco I prefer Fumerie Turque - more complex, less sweet (but pretty sweet anyway) and a wonderful tobacco note

Definitely not a safe blind buy. I own seven Lutens fragrances and have tried several times to see what so many people like about Chergui, but I just don't get it and would never buy a full bottle of it (nor probably even another sample). Get some samples. BTW, I also agree with the previous comment about Fumerie Turque. I much prefer it over Chergui.

I generally like the SL line, but don't particularly like Chergui. It's okay, but nothing I would ever buy or wear. Definitely sample first.

It sounds like an awesome fragrance, and loads of people here dig it. Go splurge on a bottle and tell us if you like it.

Nothing is ever a safe blind buy, Chergui walks the line between too sweet to handle for me, but SDV is my absolute favorite. You'll have to take the risk, but it's highly likely you'll enjoy it.

Sample. Chergui has the sweetness and honey and tobacco, yes, but it also has a _strong_ "musty old house" vibe. I like that, but you could very easily hate it.

I thought that Chergui would be 100% up my alley, and then I tried it and really didn't like it. According to the notes it seemed great, but upon trying, yeah, it wasn't for me. But, then again, I don't like Tobacco Vanille...so maybe those that like Tobacco Vanille also like Chergui. Good luck!

Not a safe blind buy but it seems like most people will like one if they like the others.

This is an extremely horrible blind buy. I bought a small sample and wanted my money back! If you like Versace dreamer you might like this one as that's what it reminds me of

chergui has a 'hay' note that I couldn't stand. Much prefer fumerie turque for tobacco fragrance.

I blind bought Chergui based off of all the reviews on youtube and I don't regret it one bit! In fact, its ranked #5 in my small warbrode that is dominated by niche fragrances. To me, it's similar to By Kilian's Back to Black, which is also jaw-dropping good.

I own SDV and Chergui, and have a sample of TV. SDV and TV have a syrupy sweetness whereas Chergui's sweetness feels powdery. I enjoy SDV and TV throughout all the phases, however find Chergui smells like expensive baby powder for about the first half an hour or so. The hay and incense can be a deal breaker for some people, but it's what made me return to the store for a full bottle. Also Chergui is probably less versatile than the other two.

In other words, sample it first.

Dont. I like TV and SDV, but dislike Chergui. Smells feminine in the drydown to me.

Blind buy it - it's an awesome frag if you like sweet heavy honey-tobacco like frags.

Never blind buy a fragrance! Always sample first or, at least, skin test it!
