Default I sampled Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum for the first time and.....

I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Where has this been all my life. How is it I never tried this before? I dunno. Anyway, I don't believe I have ever sampled the standard Eau Sauvage until tonight as well. While I did like both, I always tend to go with the MORE powerful fragrance, hence the Dior Sauvage Parfum. First question, is Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum the same thing as Dior Sauvage "extreme" ? I only wish this Fragrance were a bit more INexpensive. I've also noticed that this fragrance is "sold out" at many on line stores. Still, this Dior is going on my "to buy" list for sure. Very very Classy fragrance and quite lovely especially for an older gentleman such as myself. Heck, even my wife LIKES this fragrance! That being said, this is truly a first for ol' SixCats!, that is to say, I normally tend to buy the more odd, off beat, stinky fragrances that are Earthy, Animal, Patchouli, Vetiver, Tobacco, Leather, Coffee, Spice, etc. However, this fragrance is like nothing I normally wear. I suppose the closest "like" fragrance I have (once) owned would be Creed Millesime Imperial or Lorenzo Villoresi "Dilmun" so, I guess this is truly a new chapter in the fragrance department for ol' SixCats! So, the question begs, what other fragrances are "cut from the same cloth" as Dior Eau Sauvage ? ESPECIALLY something nice and budget like.

    Regards,

    SixCats!

I tried it a few weeks ago for the first time and liked the original much better. I will smelling something a bit plasticy-sweet in the Parfum version. I do not think it's the same as Extreme, which I have never smelled that I remember.

Anyway, for something like Eau Sauvage, [correction: Diorella] is rather close (and stronger), or Chanel Cristalle EDT...wonderful fresh green cyphre.

The Parfum was just released a couple of weeks ago. It not the same as the Extreme. Are you wanting something that is like the original Eau Sauvage or the new Parfum version?

    Hi all,

Mcurtiss, funny you should mention Moustache. It's on my "to try" list. Thanks for that recommendation. LJ, thank you for your recommendations. I'll look into those. Heperd, I was thinking something along the lines of the new PERFUM which I find stronger however, I am not opposed to finding something along the lines of original Eau Sauvage. I hope to someday own the real McCoy but, for the time being, I'm on a tight budget! Thanks for your help guys.

    Regards,
    SixCats!

LJ are you sure about Miss Dior? Perhaps Diorella?

Got to get my hands on the new parfum. Other than Dior boutiques, is it true that it's sold also Sephora?

Can't stand Moustache, but like ESP. I don't find them all that close.

I haven't come across such a straightforward vetiver-jasmine composition in a long time. It's quite similar to some essential oil mixing I have done. (Mine was a cross between ESP and Santos, with blood orange and violet leaf.) That plus citrus, herbs, myrrh and vanilla = ESP. DAS in the directory!

Tried the parfum yesterday at Sephora. I much prefer the original.

If anyone really wants a bottle, and wants me to get it for them, I gladly will... just remember, Canadian prices are a bit higher, so with shipping, it won't be cheap!

I had a similar reaction when I first tried Homme de Gres, which is not the kind of frag I usually wear.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful experience with us.

As for the EDT version of Eau Sauvage, since I haven't had the opportunity to test the Parfum version yet, Armani Eau pour Homme, Chanel pour Monsieur (also Concentree), YSL pour Homme, Boucheron pour Homme and Versace l'Homme are at least partially similar and also quite affordable.

Yeah, this stuff is kind of lingering in my mind. I'd be surprised if I don't end up with a bottle sooner or later.

SixCats - I'm also really into the new Parfum. If you have a Sephora near you or are alright with ordering sample decants from online vendors I'd suggest you try Prada Amber Homme Intense. In the arena of older frags, try Passion for Men and Burberry's (yellow juice, blue cap with the original centaur logo on top, if you can find it).

Thank you guys for all the suggestions. There is indeed a Sephora near by which is chock full of some nice goodies! This is where I tried the ESP for the first time the other night. Once I sampled the ESP, I had little interest in the other fragrances.
ESP is on my "to buy" list.

Dior Eau Savauge is excellent. I have not tried anything that is similar.

I have several vetiver scents, but Eau Savauge stands alone.
Five that I am enjoying right now

    1) Sel de Vetiver by The Different Company
    2) Spiritueuse Double Vanille by Guerlain
    3) Bois des Iles by Chanel
    4) Devin by Aramis
    5) Coromandel by Chanel

I should mention, this stuff was a powerhouse on my skin. A big ol 80's powerhouse. This should excite some of you who haven't tried it.

Just tried ESP for the first time today on paper & it's very similar to Prada Amber pour home intense. I guess it's the bergamot & myrrh that both share.

If you like the Prada, this is a better quality version of that.

Hmm, they really did not smell similar to me when I tried them a few months back on the same day (pure coincidence). I preferred the Prada though neither excited me.

I really wanted to like this, but I overdid it and turned against it. Use 1 or 2 sprays, no more.
