    Default Caron L 3e homme

Yesterday, I tried Caron's 3e homme for the very first time. The description and the notes seemed very promising to me. And I was not disappointed at all.
It opens with bright lavender with a slightly dirty note, some citrics. Then on my skin it dries down to a relatively dark spicy smell, I also get that ashtray vibe of Equipage or New York. Probably that's the patchouli. I get lots of clove/carnation. In the very late dry down I also get some amber and a slight cinnamon note.
I don't find it particularly soft or feminine (comparing to Luca Turin's review and some reviews on basenotes), I don't get that much of that floral vibe. But this was love at first sight, absolutely stunning. I think of gettnig a decent decant.
I can only recommend trying this juice! Also to all girls that like spicy stuff and tobacco notes, this is a winner!

my first impression was that the longevity is very good. have to confirm it under real life conditions though. can you confirm? what is your experience with the sillage. does it get noticed?

    Longevity is excellent on me.

Older versions had more jasmine and flowers (speaking of Turin-Sanchez, in the newest book they do say too that some of the flowers are gone).

So the older version was more unisex? i don't care, still very likeable. In the heat and/or doing sports (just coming home from gym) the drydown turns out a bit sweeter, slightly ambery.

I like the Third Man, too. Though I need to spray so very heavily to get some sort of substance out of it. Alas, very faint to me!

The new one is very dense at first but never develops distinct base notes, whereas the original was more like what I would call a complete fragrance/perfume. If you like the new one, that's great, but I have come to look forward to a more traditional base, with some clarity: tobacco, oakmoss, patchouli, leather, sandalwood, etc., which the new version doesn't have for me.

    I bought it blind.
To me it's okay and pleasant enough, but nothing spectacular. It's not a standout, with presence, like Pour Homme, Yatagan and L'Anarchist

A great lavender with vanilla and might be up there with Jicky.

My favorite Caron, followed by Yatagan! I love the smoky/waxy notes, and the touch of yuzu in the top.

    Mmmmm!

It turns cloying very quickly with me.

    2 sprays max

I do like it a lot though and don't wear it nearly enough.

Great piece of work - original and quite unusual. Another one that has a similar vibe for me is Insensé (Givenchy), which also seems to be from an era when a few people were trying to do something a bit different with stuff aimed at men.

Thumbs up Re: Caron L 3e homme

Le 3e Homme is one of my must have. IMHO it is Amazing
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

I gave it away: it has some breathtaking note that bothers me(just like nowadays Fahrenheit and New York de Nicolaï)!
