Default Top notes of Dunhill 1934 - have they turned or not?

I have a bottle of Dunhill for Men (made in Germany, the brown striped box) of unknown but - I guess - relatively recent production year.

The fragrance is absolutely lovely, but thereís something with the top notes, something slightly aged and sour with the coldness of patchouli. This is also present if i smell the atomizer. I suspect that the juice has aged and consider a second bottle from different source - with the chance of a younger and more sparkling lemon opening. But I know the top notes in my bottle might as well smell just as they should, that the fragrance hasnít turned.

Anyone with senior Dunhill experience out there?

Does the box have "Scannon" at the back, by any chance?

I've got a bottle of Dunhill for Men edc made in Germany / Scannon as well as bottles of Dunhill Cologne for Men in the bowling pin and dice splashes which are quite dated.

I've never gotten sparkling on the open with the 'Scannon'... rather a little sour/citrus/herbal. The old bottles are definitely off a little, and the sour aspect is amped up. Oddly, and this might just be me, it is not offputting. They old bottles also smell a little similar to a bottle of vintage Caron pH wrt the aged lavender.

Sorry for late answer Perfaddict. Yes, the box is labelled Scannon GmbH. It is the brown striped box with the Dunhill For Men logo aligned at the top front. I have seen boxes with the logo aligned in the middle as well.

@DuNezDeBuzier - I don't actually find the top offputting either, I just wanted to know if it might be worth getting a second bottle, perhaps slightly better.

I had noticed the observed differences in the Scannon and older versions. Truth be told, i prefer the older (one could say slightly "duller") edition though.
