Indie natural perfumer Ayala Moriel has launched Etrog Oy de Cologne, a new citrus floral fragrance:
Due to its delicate flavour and sweet perfume, citron (Citrus medica, or Etrog in Hebrew) garnered mythical significance like no other citrus fruit. It is one of the 4 species in Sukkot, alongside myrtle, willow and palm. Etrog symbolizes the heart, and is said to represent a complete, balanced person: one who has both knowledge and learning, as well as good deeds. And like all good things, citron fruit is rare, and its essences is even more difficult to find. Therefore, the perfumer had to tincture her own: fresh organic fruit was tinctured by her family in Israel, and the rabbi of downtown Vancouver donated his family’s Etrogim for 3 consecutive years. Thanks to this community effort – the first “Oy de Cologne”! Ayala Moriel’s Etrog Oy de Cologne is a modern twist on a timeless classic: citron zest is paired with pomelo peel to accentuate its subtle floral-citrus aroma, alongside green myrtle and Japanese mint to balance its fruity sweetness. Balsam poplar buds created a honeyed, pulp-like texture alongside Australian lemon myrtle and citron leaves. Ancient olive and incense resins make a lasting impression.
Ayala Moriel Etrog Oy de Cologne is available in 4 ($48) or 15 ($120) ml Eau de Parfum.

Thanks for the heads up.
I have a sample in route, I'll let you know what I think, as always.
I have a sample on its way as well. It will be fun to compare notes!
This has been a labour of love for Ayala. Etrog has a particular citrus scent, and is closely associated with Sukkot, the festival of booths or temporary dwellings (celebrating the transitory nature of human life). Ayala has worked long and hard to get a good Etrog essence.

I've worn Etrog three times now. It's quite nice and unique. Etrog isn't your average fizzy sparkling citrus Eau de Cologne. It has alot more body to it. A very nice herbal quality with a nice resin supporting base. A very enjoyable fragrance for summer days. Nice quality raw materials with better than average lasting power.
Who is Etrog for? For scent lovers who are burned out on traditional Eau de Colognes, and want a nice unique take on the theme.
No fancy awards here, just a good scent to enjoy the warm days.
For $48.00, decided to do a blind buy. I figure if I don't like it I'll give it to my sister who is the ultimate Jewish Yenta. She can show all her yenta friends her Oy Vey cologne.
Could this be the tiniest sample ever? I think. No harm done, however. I find the olive resin in too much contract with the upfront citrus zing. Just not for me.
