Default Chanel's allure homme sport (Eau de toilette) vs bleu de chanel

hey 'm pretty new to fragrances and i was wondering which cologne i should get between AHS and Bleu de chanel, i am 18 so that might affect answers. I need a fragrance that is good for year round since i live in canada there is hot and cold weather year round. which is better based on smell, compliments, projection, longevity, versatility, etc...

    thank you!

I've only worn AHS a few times, but my impression is that Bleu (which I own) is the more versatile of the two, both for different occasions and different seasons. Its projection/longevity are fine on me, though not outlandish.

My favorite and most-worn Chanel, though, is Allure Edition Blanche, which I'd say is easily superior to AHS.

I think AHS is a more unique smelling frag than Bleau which is a just generic smell good mass marketed scent. AHS can be argued the same but it smells more unique, to me at least.

Diva D, Im with you on Edition Blanche, its my favorite from the line

I'd pick Bleu over AHS. Even the latest Chanel (AHS Eau Extreme) is better than the regular AHS, IMO.

With all due respect, I would not recommend them to someone new to fragrance or an "old hand." Just my opinion, of course...

Personally, I prefer Bleu de Chanel over Allure (and by far over Allure Sport).

Yes, Bleu de Chanel may be simpler than Allure. It may be an aquatic that doesn't try to do anything bold or crazy, but it's plain enjoyable.

I suggest you test them both. I know Bloomingdales has testers of the Chanels.

I definitely prefer Allure Homme Sport over Bleu de Chanel. To me, AHS smells younger & more modern. The incense note in the drydown of Bleu is off putting to me & makes the fragrance seem too mature for my tastes in a warm weather fragrance.

compliments - Bleu (although Sport does get it's share)
    projection - Bleu
    longevity - Equal
    versatility - Bleu

I think Bleu de Chanel is not as "black" as it is painted. And it's versatile.
It's the overly sweetness of Allure Homme Sport that prevents me from ever wearing it in a row.

Of the two, AHS. Bleu's drydown is nice but I find the base generic.

Bleu de Chanel by Chanel is really an all-season scent thriving in spring, summer and fall. It's a mainstream scent, but subtly nuanced enough to set it apart.

I have AHS and my friend has Bleu. So far, I think Bleu is much better although its considered as a mainstream frag. If youre going to talk about compliments, I think Bleu has a slight edge over AHS.

Your top 10 is advanced... Yes? You had to start somewhere when you were new to the game. I think Chanel fragrances are a pretty great way to get started in this wonderful obsession. Im not saying you're wrong, I'm just simply saying its not a bad beginning.

I don't know about "advanced" or not but they are just scents I like, one of which I started wearing well over 20 years ago with no scent knowledge whatsoever except that I thought it smelled good. I do not make distinctions as to what smells good to me. Some scents can be more acquired tastes that maybe a more "experienced" nose might be able to more easily appreciate, but I just don't like those two choices plain and simple, and never did. I can't in good conscience recommend scents that I do not think smell good to anyone, whether they be new to the fragrance world or the most experienced of individuals; I just feel there are much better choices at the same or lower price-points for any prospective buyer. That said, if you like one or both of those and recommend them, I certainly respect your opinion. We all have our own preferences of what we like and don't like and recommend accordingly...

I definitely get what you're saying. I definitely agree about what you said about the better introductions at the same price point. I guess I was just coming from the other side of the fence where I really like Platinum Egoiste but I could never recommend it for a beginner. A more advanced nose can appreciate Egoiste and Platinum Egoiste.
Here's my debate though... A person picks out two fragrances and says they are going to make a purchase. I'm assuming they have sampled plenty and they come with Blue and Allure Homme Sport in their purchase plans. I'm going to give my opinion of the two since that seems to be what they like. I might even ask them if they've sampled the entire current Chanel men's fragrance line and help them explore further.
Regardless, I can appreciate your opinions and your top 10.

Both are very good, however, for your needs, I think Bleu de Chanel
is the way to go. It's more versatile than AHS IMO, more of a year
    round scent at any rate.

Bro I am 20 and I would go with AHS Eau Extreme. I think for Canada, this would be more appropriate than either of the two you mentioned. However, if you are only open to those two, I would go with AHS. Try extreme though man, it is fantastic and fewer other people wear it because it is relatively new.

I love both, the whole allure line and platinum egoiste all are awesome scents.

I'm gonna go with AHS over bleu. They both smell good but there's something about sport that lifts my mood up and makes me feel fresh. They both get compliments and bleu is more versatile but I prefer sport. Can't go wrong with either though
