Red face Advice please: how would these pour hommes work pour femme?

    Givenchy: Insense, Monsieur, and Gentleman
    Nina Ricci: Phileas, Signoricci 2
    Le 3e homme de Caron
    Ho Hang by Balenciaga
    Antaeus

Though stereotyping is tiresome, what type of man would normally wear these scents?

Most would be in vintage formulation. If it helps any, I am thin, somewhat androgynous, and "avant-garde" (thrift store, vintage, mixed with goth higher design houses) in style.

I hope this is not TMI or out of place (new to basenotes here). I see plenty of the more dedicated perfumisto men wearing women's perfumes for their excellent construction and complexity, but sometimes I want to wear a male scent for its roughness, earthiness, and power. Gentlemanly and barbershop scents full of aldehydes are also very appealing. I wear Old Spice men's deodorant everyday.

And out of left field, how could a woman pull off Kouros?

Have everything on your list currently in my collection and I don't see any problem with your using any of them.

If you like them, wear them. Do not apologise for liking any fragance at all! Enjoy!

I would not want to smell Kouros or any of the others on my gf, but if you like them and think they smell good on you then go for it.
    Is that what youre asking?

I think the newly reformulated Antaeus would work great on a woman.

Hmm, heperd, I suppose what I'm asking is ...would any of these scents transform into something new and improved or at least not terribly awkward on a woman? I think I see the answer is: try them out, and do it without apology. Thanks, gents.

Givenchy Gentleman is a patchouli-fest - it has both hip and elegant angles that can be exploited.

3rd Man is smoky yuzu and florals - a nice retro vibe, IMO.

Antaeus is strong beeswax chypre, but the feminine aspects depart quickly, IMO. This could be interesting on a woman, but challenging, because it's almost macho.

All of these are *interesting* on women - somewhat unexpected. I think they demand eye-catching and out-of-the-ordinary clothing to match, but doing so they would be great!

Many thanks, Perfumisto you have piqued my curiosity. Try these I must. I'll save the Antaeus for when I accompany male friends to the gay bar. As a bisexual woman (and not in the trendy way, sigh) mixing up scent genders appeals to my tastes greatly.

Antaeus would even get some retro cred in that circumstance; it was supposedly THE scent of gay bars at one time!

Well I own and wear many male fragrances. From your list I have 3rd Man, which is smooth elegant.

From your list I doubt only whether" Phileas" is a right choice for a woman, but on the second thought...why not?

Don't think I have smelled any men's scents I know on a woman yet but I'd say out of the ones you've mentioned Insense and Le 3e homme would be the easiest to wear. Don't know Monsieur, Signoricci 2 and Ho Hang.

I think Troisiemme Homme would be easiest to wear of those, then Antaeus. Other classic masculines which can work well on women IMVHO include Habit Rouge, Guerlain Vetiver and Givenchy Vetyver.
