It is my favorite Cartier scent, designed by one of the leading contemporary perfumers.
I just recently read here in an artfical that this is the most popular seller for Cartier men's line. I never invested in this scent and would like to hear some recent opinions from fellow basenote members if I should invest.
It is my favorite Cartier scent, designed by one of the leading contemporary perfumers.
It's the best thing they have, for me it was the scent that started me on this obsession. Everything Cartier makes is good but Declaration is a must have IMO.
+1. It has become one of my favorit scents. It`s one of Cartier`s best selling fragrances, and Mr Ellena has mention that this is one of the fragrances He is absolutely most proud of. It`s not for everybody though. You have to tolerate a bit "dirtiness" to enjoy this scent. It`s quite unique with it`s fresh and spicy notes. It has notes of burnt dirty spices (lots of Cardamom), but once you get over the top notes, you will experience a very sophisticated woody dry-down.
- IMO Cartier Declaration is a role model / prototype for Terre d`Hermès, and I prefer Declaration by a wide margin. You should also try the splendid flanker Declaration Essence which has pointed the notes from the original. Both are worth owning. Good luck!
(Do also try the shower-gel. Very very high quality product!)
OP, I'll sell you my 98% full 1.7 oz. bottle in box for $40.
I have it and like it a lot.
I like the Essence version of Déclaration the best: it has been my signature scent for almost a decade!
I'm a girl and I wear this. Fresh and spicy with a spicy sweet sophisticated drydown. It's delicious.
Depends on what kinds of fragrances you like.
the cartier line is a series of well crafted fragrances, but most of them aren't my type. i'd say declaration is probably my favorite from the house, but it is probably not something i would wear.
don't buy it just because of positive reviews. go to sephora and try it yourself.
Declaration is a fine scent. I too prefer the Essence version of this scent (the green version) but they are both good, as is the Eau Genereuse version that comes around in the summer.
There was a good write-up on the NowSmellThis blog yesterday. I marginally prefer the original myself.

Both the initial Declaration, as well as its flankers, are smooth, soothing and contemporary gourmand scents.
My wife loved this on me today. Wow, is it powerful. 3 sprays gave me all day coverage. Glad I snatched it up at TJ Maxx yesterday.
I thought it smelled superb on paper but there is something offputting to me when it's on my skin and I almost never wear it.
I much prefer Roadster.
the essence were is dark and heavy I prefer it to the original!
It way my wife's favourite 'romantic scent' for quite some time, until she smelled Tom Ford's Italian Cypress...![]()

I'm going to be straight up an honest with you. Cartier Declaration smells like a smoky body odorous wood smell. I'd never wear it, but that's just me. It smells like body odor.

Roadster is the best from the line imo.
I'm not sure why some people suggest its skanky of body odorous. To me it smells incredibly smooth and silky. Also I thought far more women buy this than men...? not that it matters...
Very good fragrance. It's very similar, but perhaps even better, to "Thè pour un ète" de l'Artisan Parfumeur, due to its sweet notes.
I like Declaration a lot, but it's not for everyone.
It's basically a huge blast of orange and cardamom (I don't know why people say cumin, they are very different smells to me), with a woody drydown. Lasts for hours and projects like a beast.
I cant wear it. It's all cardamom
Yes, Declaration has loads, i really mean loads of cardamom, hence it's quite challenging for a lot of people, because too much cardamom will give off a "body odour" smell. It's a gorgeous scent, only if body odour smells this good. It's quite unique as well. If you like Declaration you should give Must de Cartier Pour Homme a try also, really outstanding stuff.
