The MDCI-sample coffret. Although the term sample is a misnomer. I chose:

    2 by 12mls-Amber Topkapi
    1 by 12mls-Invasion Barbare
    1 by 12mls-Chypre Palatin
    1 by 12mls-Rivage des Sytres

    The service was exceptional.

What arrived early by courier this morning:

My first blind buy, and a good one:

And a backup 120ml bottle of Millesime Imperial. The packaging was different from the 75ml bottle I got in Paris, I nearly thought I had a fake.

Well you guys already know I wear Shalimar almost every night, before bed, but as of late I've been using a mid-90's bottle (from a gift set that had body powder and soap) and while I have enjoyed it, its definitely different than the vintage Shalimar from the 1960's, so I finally found a bottle at a reasonable price on eBay. The bottle is in absolute pristine condition, whomever owned it must have stored it properly. I can't wait to pop this open & wear it.

Just got an absolutely amazing deal on MDCI Invasion Barbare. A very kind Facebook user didn't like it and was selling for 130, 99.5%, I know it's not a great deal off the price to some people but, 30 off rrp is good enough for me. Can't wait till tomorrow! Thank god for next day delivery!

Yeah, I went into David Jones the other day and found that they didn't have any Bonds. I guess that big sale a while back really was a clearance. Which website did you use?

The well known FragranceNet 2 weeks to get to Australia, another thing that sucks about living here.

Forgot to mention also picked up Chanel Allure Homme Sport and Edition Blanche along with Bleu de Chanel. Couldn't find them anywhere and when I finally found a website I went a bit overboard.

Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Cologne 3.3 oz new in box from Sierra Trading Post: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/ . . . a lighter sandalwood that reminds me of the barbershop.

$17.87 US after their DealFlyer email offer of 40% off . . . you have to be signed up to get these email offers which are frequent. They also have other Taylor of Old Bond Street products at a discount.

In my book, Guerlain is not a designer brand. It's a perfume house with almost 200 years of history, with a big side business in cosmetics.

A designer brand is one that uses the name of a clothing designer to sell perfume. If you can buy clothes with the same name on it, it's a designer brand. Of course, not all designer brands are created equal - there's a big difference in the way fragrance is handled between brands like Dior, Chanel (maybe more a perfume house that sells clothing?), Comme de Garons, and YSL and others like Calvin Klein, Issey Miyake, and Juicy Couture.

It just sounds completely wrong to me when people describe Guerlain as a designer brand. It's really the opposite of a designer brand. The term is so often taken to mean anything that's not niche.

Ok - I'm off my soapbox now.

Brian! What an excellent haul! I'm a HUGE ELdO fan. I see that this is a set of three 50ml bottles? Where did you get them? I didn't know that you could buy a set of three like that. That would be great for me. If so, can you choose the 3 that are in the set? And finally, SM! You can wear that? Good for you! Really jealous right now!
