    Default Cross-Posting Etiquette

When I was newer on BN, I used to sometimes copy the text I had written in a thread and paste it into the Fragrance Directory as my review. At some point, I stopped doing that because I read the policy about cross-posting and didn't want to annoy people who are researching a scent and would end up reading the same text in two places. But is it really that annoying? I still think some of my forum posts would make decent reviews. Ideally, I understand a concise review may not include my slightly rambling post style, but it's rare that I have the time to rewrite something specifically for the fragrance directory. Just how bad is it to cross-post in this manner?

(Specifically, I mean cross-posting something like this into the directory: http://www.basenotes.net/threads/304...=1#post2614949).

I think cross-posting refers to posting the same thread on various forums.

I don't see any problem with either taking your post and copying it to the directory for a review, or, as some like to do, copying their review into a discussion thread about a fragrance.

The way we've been implementing the cross-posting rule is to apply it to forum posts only. You can add the same content to a blog post or review.

Thank you. I'll be able to make a lot more reviews now.

I don't find it annoying either. Directory and forums are two clearly separate things, and appear so when making a search. And there's no point in rewriting the same thing twice for the two places. Indeed, this reminds me that I should start putting stuff in the directory. I write a lot in the forum but then never follow up.
