Poison-in a class all her own.
Apologies if there is a thread I should have resurrected, I did search but didnt find one.
I was wondering what female scents you consider to be like no other? Especially designer, easily accessible ones.
My starters would be:-
Dune by Dior
Wrappings by Clinique
But I can't think of many others, maybe Diorissimo but that's it
Poison-in a class all her own.
I think Une Fleur de Cassie (Frederic Malle, Dominique Ropion) and L'Heure Fougueuse IV (Cartier, Mathilde Laurent) are two of the most original and unusual fragrances of the last decade.
Onda (Vero Kern)
Epic Woman (Amouage)
Memoir Man (Amouage)
Interlude Man (Amouage)
Opus VI (Amouage)
Balsamo della Mecca (Dominique Dubrana)
A number of Guerlains, obviously, although sometimes they reference themselves.
nothing can touch no. 19
Will perform unspeakable acts for Fracas, Chanel 19, and Agent Provocateur. And MAC, but the fragrance + cosmetics comorbidity club is pretty dang lonely.
Currently binging on roses.... Jo Malone, you dirty bitch. You too, Stella McCartney.
Womanity by Thierry Mugler
I didn't say it smells pleasant, just that it smells like no other. Haha
After sampling 1,200 or so scents, two spring to mind that I am confident in proclaiming as similar to no other.
1) Borsari Macchia Mediterranea -- herbs, herbs, real natural herbs, beautifully blended, unique in the best sense.
2) Serge Lutens Miel des Bois -- horrid honey stinkfest.
In a world where 6 million people are added each month, every landscape matters.
I was just making this point on another thread: Alexander McQueen Kingdom
Current Top Five:
1. Bois des Iles--Chanel
2. George Sand--Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier
3. L'Ame Soeur--Divine
4. Violet Blonde--Tom Ford
5. Santal Blush--Tom Ford
This is a rare one, and it was my sig late 70s thru 90s: Mollie Parnis, It starts with an aldehydic peachy/tuberose blast, finishes honeyed tobacco and leather.
What do insomniac perfumers do to fall asleep? They count chypres!
Two long discontinued vintages: Bakir and Balahe
Alien. Described not unfairly by one BN reviewer as "other-worldly". Opinions on this vary greatly from love to hate.
Dzing. Mentioned here by Mr. Reasonable. Marketed as unisex and may not satisfy your criterion of being easily accessible. But definately smells like no other. Whimsical.
CDG Odeur series and original CDG parfum
Original Shiseido Zen
Tailspin by Lelong
The Dreamer by Versace
Agreed with Dune, Womanity, and Alien, all not necessarily for the best.
I hear Emotion Divine by Mauboussin is an unforgettable and singular experience, even some say revolting?
Secretions Magnifique. I tried this and did not like it.
To each his own.

The majority of the Comme des Garcons line!
Hiris. My husband and son (aged four) both recognise it instantly.
+1 Onda <3
+1 Comme Des Garcons EDP 2011
Haha, the O'Driu made me laugh, they smell like nothing else unless you include everything else in the O'Driu line - then they're extremely similar :')
Cartier IV Fougueuse
JAR Diamond Water - majority of the JARs are unique
I'm prepared to be contradicted by more experienced sniffers (and would welcome the information) -- but the ones that come to mind for me are Le Feu d'Issey, Iris 39, Nuit de Tubéreuse, and Black March.
I will add Etro Messe di Minute unisex for sure. All damp mould and wonderful for it.
Eck on Womanity...pretty sure that one got discontinued this year. Ya, TM scents, nothing like them but I don't like any of them so far. I think Alien was the most tolerable but not something I would buy. I am interested in trying those Alien flankers a bit.
Maybe a Lolita Lempicka scent would fit into this category. I would also add Mon Jasmin Noir by Bvlgari..I can't think of any scent that smells like this. It's definitely unique I think.
I would say Habinita (in a class all its own), Yatagan, and YSL Nu.
I keep reading about Kingdom, but have yet to experience it. Seems to be a love/hate thing.
1. Patou Pour Homme
2. Patou Pour Homme Prive
3. Portrait of a lady
4. Jubilation XXV
5. Cashmere Oud
6. Tribute Attar
7. Ambre 114
8. Clive Christian No. 1
9. Jardin d Amalfi
10. Eau de Patou Pour Homme
Vintage Magie Noire, & the original Ghost (not the flankers).
"What is this secret connection between the soul, and sea, clouds and perfumes? The soul itself appears to be sea, cloud and perfume..." - from Zorba the Greek by Nikos Kazantzakis.
noire epices SL
Chanel no 18
bal a versailles
breath of God!
i agree with Dzing, and profumo.it!! they all smell so much more raw, rather then perfumery...one has to get used to it, but i like them so so much!!!
Caleche (Hermes. The real Caleche, not the insipid Kelly Caleche)
Luctor et Emergo by People of the Labyrinths
Obsession by Calvin Klein (I hate it, but it is unmistakeable)
Tobacco Vanille (Tom Ford). Mmmmm. And forget any vanilla scent you've ever tried before.
Georgio Beverly Hills (Sorry)
Strictly among the feminines: Le Dix by Balenciaga, female citrus chypre, also formally, elegantly floral, also almost powerhouse style leathery never smelled so good, nor the same!
