Default The Music of a Fragrance: A Fragrance Thread Game

Hello everyone and welcome to "The Music of a Fragrance" Game.

Music is a huge part of most of our lives, and can evoke all sorts of feelings and nostalgia. In my eyes (or nose?), fragrances are no different. So why not combine two of our favorite passions to make a fun and evocative game? Initially I would like to thank RoyalDuder for actually inspiring me to make a game of this here and now with his "Films of a Fragrance" game, but this is most likely an idea I'm sure others have come up with; thought about or have done by themselves without giving it a second thought.

    The Game
The way this game will work is simple:
1a. The following poster has to come up with a fragrance that comes to mind when given a song by the previous posters song choice. A short explanation of the fragrance choice is required as well as desirable to see!
1b. If one has not heard the song, he or she must go ahead and listen to it via a legal source. (ex. youtube, soundcloud , etc.)
    2. The user can then pick a song of his or her choice for the next person to pick a fragrance for. A link to the song would be helpful. If a song or link with explicit content is given, please specify this clearly.
    Objective
    - To have fun and enjoy being moved by music and fragrance.

Creed - Orange Spice, definitely. Because of the beautiful contrasts, the freshness and sweetness of orange and neroli versus the sobriety and exoticness of the spices, along the heavy sensuality of the ambergris the short melodic cadences against the more abstract runs and sweeping melodies, the lightness of the small gestures and few-tone melodies against the background of grand expressions and heavy rhythms, the sombre melancholy of the last accords.

    Next piece:

    Wow nice answer.
I've never heard this one before so it took me a while to figure something out. This one reminds me of something vintage for sure, lush and royal. Something that possess characteristics of elegance and simplicity. Jardin d'Amalfi it is.

Let's get a little jazzy for the next one shall we? Which is Feeling good - Michael Buble (original song by Nina Simone) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Edwsf-8F3sI
and/or also check out 2012 X Factor Carly Rose's audition of Feelin good, she kills it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffyZNW7Ra7M

I'm going to go with Creed's Pure White Cologne. It's nice and classy without being too snobbish.

How about Faith No More's "Caffeine"?

Loud, bold, brash but still quality - has to be something from Paco Rabanne. I'm going with Paco Rabanne Invictus.

Here's the next music pick -

Chopin Prelude in E Minor (Op. 28 no 4)

Hmm, this one is hard for me. Something slightly somber but tranquil, perhaps in a cool or colder setting. I sparked an idea, so I went over to my little sample stash and thought that this one from Tauer Parfumes might work. Turns out it does. Incense Rose Wow the two of these together actually brings out both in a way for me that I havn't noticed before. Dark and mysterious while at the same time calming, and beautiful. Was actually never too fond of this one until now haha.

Next up: He's a Pirate by Klaus Badelt (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Soundtrack) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFBBKfw59kA

This one was tough one for me - simple, universal but somewhat 'dark' at the same time. Perhaps Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme Intenso.

Next up is a jazz standard.

I can feel myself being transported to a classy but not over the top restaurant with a live band gently doing their thing. So maybe a little cigarette smoke, OP as soon as I said that I thought of it! Tea For Two by L'Artisan Parfumeur! Classy, beautiful and smooth ash trays from the lounge, enjoying a nice cup of tea in the afternoon relaxing listening and smelling what it means like to be relaxed! WIN! what a combo haha

Next up: Winterspell by Two Steps From Hell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJFRfLLvy2c

Can't really explain why, but the fragrance that immediately came to mind was Artek Standard by Comme des Garcons. Or perhaps Dover Street Market. Something modern, with some underlying minimalism.

    Here's the next one:

Not the biggest Beatles fan out here, and having not lived in the 1960's, I still hold the 60's in a very high regard as a decade with some of the best music ever. I can't help but think of either vetiver or patchouli when I think of the 60's or the English invasion. One that I do know that made me think of how 'classic 1960's' it was that I smelled within the last few years, for the first time, is Guerlain Vetiver. Seems to me a quintessential 60's smell that any Beatles song can relate to :]

Next is: Reflections of Earth by Gavin Greenaway (one of my all time pieces of music, well worth the entire listen) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTgyMrxmteg

Interesting! Somehow I first came to think of Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere, or perhaps Scherrer EdP, but then it hit me – Chanel No 19. I never really made the connection to the 60's, more to the general vibe of the song/lyrics, but I definitely see your point!
