Default SotD Friday, 13th July 2012

    Hello sweethearts!
We had some downtime recently but let's hope that everything is fine now and that we won't have another break soon. The weather has changed here, it's quite cold and we have a mix of cloudy sky and sunny sky, in other words - typical Polish weather for summer.
I'm wearing Eau Pour Le Jeune Homme from Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier

Now I'm heading to the kitchen to bake a lemon cake. Have a good day (even thought it's "unlucky" Friday the 13th)

Hello all. For synch Friday (vintage juice) I'm wearing Givenchy III from an old bottle I scored off the bay a couple of years back - and quite wonderful it is too.

pg bois blond, it helps me imagine that i walk through a field of golden grain, in august, under a scorching sun, it's dry, it's hot, there's no shade, just a light breeze. never thought i wished for that, but after 4 months of continuous rain in london, this is what i want. have a good weekend everyone.

Well done! Wear it in good health.

Eau du Sud for me today. Citrus/Basil/Mint. Clean and soapy. One of the best if you like this kinda thing, and I do!!

Going a wee bit of shopping with mum then taking her home today. We have had a really nice time. She is going off home with samples of Sud and Hadrien and somje decants to follow.

Oh shit! It is Friday! What is this with me not knowing what day of the week it is? Again! I will enjoy synching later.

I love Eau d'Hadrien but it quickly wears off from my skin, still haven't tried Eau du Sud, which sounds up my alley. You know I love the soapy, squeaky clean stuff.

Eau du Sud comes highly recommended from me too and the staying power is superior to Eau d'Hadrien. BTW if you find EDH fleeting wait until you give Duel a whirl - my skin is extremely well behaved and Duel has the most abysmal longevity I've ever experienced from any fragrance.

Jon, you read my mind! I'm on a hunt for a sample of Duel. One of our BN friends offered she'd try to get me a sample from AG boutique. If it works for me I'll definitely buy it. Nuit Etoilee is great and I just sampled Ninfeo Mio which also goes on my to-buy list.

In the last few years we had the situation that summery weather in temperatures started in mid April or in May and the summer was over in the mid July, but this year we didn't have hot April or May and now we have some mixed conditions. Thanks, the cake is already out of the oven.

Hi everyone. I'm in blissful Sa Majeste La Rose today.

Just read about Chanel's pop-up store in Covent Garden. So looking forward to visiting the store.

Not long before the Olympics. I wasn't all that enthused about it and had nothing planned, but I've been given free tickets for the opening ceremony and a few games. Is anyone going?

    Have a great Friday!

SotM has been the wonderfully ethereal Avignon from a sample which formed part of my first BN care package. I've only ever dabbed it in miniscule amounts previously to eek it out but today I thought blow it and I'm giving it a full wearing, all my work colleagues, young and old love it! One want to wear it as her wedding perfume! I thought it was a perfect church wedding fragrance for the service, maybe not for the reception and wedding night

Hello, everyone, also not synching yet, but very glad BN is back. I had craving for aldehydes this morning and sampling Calandre given to me by one very kind BNer. I will find something vintage for this evening.

Lucasai, your lemon cake sounds yummy!

PerfumedLady, I see we both had cravings for aldehydes today.

This morning I am waiting for the shop in Oregon to open, because of time difference I have another hour and a half. Fingers crossed they still have Pallida in stock.

SotD is L'Occitane Verbena Summer Secret, the 2010 verbena flanker.

The one for 2012, Sorbet Verbena, also has a mint note, but I prefer the 2010 with its green apple and basil.

A seamless segue there, Mr. Rodgers Sure, I'll join you (and the spirit of Larimar, and whoever else cares to indulge) in a drop this evening. I'm all about the antioxidants, hehehe.

LadymurasakiLemongrass and Rose Martini, oh wow!

Synching in Helena Rubinstein Heaven Sent. A special fragrance for me. My Aunt bought it for me when I was a child, and look what she did. She has something to answer for believe me!! I got some from e bay a wee while ago. It is a bit spoiled actually, but is still there and it is really important to me.

[Blucasai, Jon][/B] The Sud didn't last at all today. It was a sample of the EDT that I got in store a couple of days ago. I had a bottle a few years ago and it definately lasted far better than this, maybe it was the EDP? I do think that you can get both.

Hiya. I've been trying to post almost every day for a week. Even when BN was online, my posts wouldn't go through successfully.

Now to see if I can stay connected long enough to read some posts.
Hope all of you good souls are doing well.

Hi everyone! I've been so bad about posting to this thread. How nice to see you, Taolady! Jon, I will have a glass of that vine fruit juice. :-) Danny, I love the photo you chose for Bois Blond – perfect!

Someone mentioned Twolf – I hope all is well with her. I hoped that she'd be able to play along for our Blind Sniff.

My SotD is Sample A from the Blind Sniff. As all our sniffers agree, it has plenty of MUSK. :-O Join us – we love spectators to play along!

OK, I opened the vintage Arpège, here's the deed on flickr:

I'm a My Sin sort of gal, so it may take a while for the Arpège to register. My nose takes at least three days to suss out a new fragrance. I'm getting incensy aldehydes. Sealed as it was, is there any chance it nonetheless aged?

Started the early morning with a good dousing of vintage Noa by Cacharel, which I think will become my quiet, non-perfume-perfume go-to. As it dries down into nothing but musk with a vague basil/coffee note, it's great as a base for other scents.

I (perhaps sacrilegiously?) dabbed on a bit of vintage Mitsouko parfum from the late 70s in honor of the Vintage sync. If I could live inside the world of one perfume, it would be vintage Mitsouko. Mustiness, libraries, peach orchards, dark magical forests, pagan fertility and angular Apollonian sculpture at the same time.

Upon receiving a vintage PDT of Jacomo Silences in the mail this afternoon, I spilt quite a bit of it in over-eager bottle wafting, and now my legs are coated. A fine contrast of Mitsouko and Silences emerges, murky water versus clear. Thanks to all the buzz on Basenotes about it, I now know Silences is a quiet kind of perfection (that sounds very ad-copy, but it's true!).

I'm in synch today, but just barely. I'm wearing vintage Derby. I'm not sure of the exact year of my Derby decant, but it is possible it's not quite 25 years old ... too bad! It's wonderful all the same.

Happy Friday everyone ... so glad the weekend is here!
    I've trademarked the color bleu

Tobacco Vanille & Eau Duelle. Not together. I tested one on one arm & another on another arm earlier today at Neiman's & they're still just hanging out. And oh, I'm a lovin' them both! (I bought Eau Duelle.) Yay!

Flying by to say hello dear hearts! (((Lucasai))) you are so adorable.

Todays scents: vintage Guerlain Meteorites (thanks to a Basenotes buddy). Nice, but doesn't last long in the Florida heat. Then some Cartier Panthere eau Legere this afternoon. This evening, it is vintage Corday Toujours Moi parfum. Almost all I wear is vintage anymore.

    Love you all to BITS!!
