Drakkar Noir is much better IMO.
Neither (dislike them both / or unsure)
Both of them were popular designer power woodsy frags of the 80's.
Which do you prefer?
Drakkar Noir is much better IMO.
Aramis is infinitely better.

Drakkar gets my vote, though both got me compliements...in high school. To wear today, I'd pick Drakkar. Aramis is so freaking HEAVY on me.
looks like theyre tied so far
Both significant fragrances, but in terms of which is better it's Aramis by a long shot.
Body Kouros, Fahrenheit and other designer bottles for trade in My Swap Thread
Aramis by far.
Aramis. I think I will make it my SOTE later.

I agree with those that significantly prefer Aramis.
Still haven't been able to even tolerate Aramis. Vote goes to Drakkar.

8 to 8. A dead-even tie (this is something that doesn't happen too often on here).
To me, they are both power woodsy scents, except each of them have a different perspective on it.
Aramis is pure woodsy, whereas Drakkar tries to balance the woodsiness with fruity and floral notes. In the end, people either find Drakkar to be well balanced with the variety of notes, or muddled and dissonant.
Definitely present day Aramis. I dont know if Lauder have toned it down since the 70's, but the current stuff isn't the Power Frag/Sillage Monster/Cologne Guy/Sex Panther I remember it to be. Dad must have gone apeshit on the trigger...
A classy chypre with a very "times gone by" feel (not exactly dated, more antique if you know what I mean), wouldn't suit boys, for the more mature, discerning customer, with a robust but not overbearing Leather drydown.
Drakkar Noir is synthetic lavender muck in comparison.
Drakkar Noir for me!!!
Aramis for one thing it is so much more complex then DN
Aramis is a masterpiece.
My Top Ten:
1: Guerlain - Habit Rouge
2: Guerlain - Jicky
3: Guerlain - Mouchoir de Monsieur
4: Guerlain - Shalimar
5: Knize - Knize Ten
6: Caron - Yatagan
7: Caron - Pour Un Homme
8: Jean Desprez - Bal a Versailles
9: Yves Saint Laurent - M7
10: Salvador Dali - Dali Pour Homme
I chose Drakkar, but honestly they both make my nose bleed for forgiveness. Aramis now reminds me of funeral homes and this dude.

I'd take Aramis, simply because Drakkar Noir was my near-signature evening scent during my teen and early university years, while I'd simply like to become more familiar with Aramis, with wearing it and deconstructing more of its notes.
Now, it's clear that Aramis is in the lead.
Aramis is the superior scent, imo.
Current top 10:
1. L'Artisan Dzing!
2. Lorenzo Villoresi Yerbamate
3. Guerlain Bois d'Armenie
4. L'Artisan Al Oudh
5. Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Silver Factory
6. Parfumerie Generale Bois Blond
7. Andy Tauer L'Air du Desert Marocain
8. Guerlain Derby
9. Geo F Trumper Eucris
10. Parfum d'Empire Ambre Russe
Have to agree on Aramis been the better scent.
I like them both.
I don't currently own a bottle of Drakkar Noir so I haven't smelled it recently, but have I used up several bottles of it in the past as my daily and only fragrance. I always enjoyed it and got lots of compliments.
I've just gotten into Aramis lately (after being a longtime fan of 900, Havana, and Tuscany, and a more recent one of JHL and Devin) and and I'm really enjoying it. However, it is not an 80s fragrance; it came out in 1965.
Both of these strike me as fragrances that people have a lot of associations with that affect their perceptions of the fragrances themselves. Not that this is wrong or unusual, but it seems to be an especially big factor in opinions of these two.
Just because it happened to you doesn't make it interesting.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

I don't like either, but I find Drakkar Noir to be more tolerable.
"I am a robot and I like cheese"
1. Axe Kilo
2. Lectric Shave
3. Vicks Vapor Rub
4. Febreze Pour Homme
5. Preferred Stock
If I had to choose between the two it would be Drakkar noir. Aramis has great projection and longevity but Aramis has a urine like smell to it that I could not get past.
I prefer Drakkar Noir - from a woman's perspective. ( Though I also do think Aramis is great , Drakkar Noir is the one I prefer to smell . )
For sale. Carnal Flower and Vero Profumo Onda.
Aramis, although it smells a bit castrated these days.
Aramis by a long way for me.
Life's a bitch. If it were a slut it'd be easy.
Drakkar Noir for me. Of course.
I can't choose between these two, because I love them both.
surprised to see this one keep popping up.
Drakar Noir, indeed.
Both great scents of their time, but probably a bit dated for many today (would not inlcude myself in that group).
Have extensively used and loved both, each having beeen my staple to-go frag at various stages in my life, but as of today I feel Aramis is the better, primarily because DN is but a pale shadow of its former self whilst Aramis continues to be close to its days of yore.
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Great questions. I wore both of these many years ago. I would use my dad's Aramis and I purchased the Drakkar Noir. Both are very good. I love those 80's power house juices. Today, I own both. I normally wear Drakkar during the day, and two sprays of Aramis during the evenings. Both are really good. But if I have to choose one, it would be Drakkar.
Aramis by miles...

Drakkar for sure for me. I have a bottle of Aramis I am still trying to get rid of. Not that Aramis is bad, but it's quite sharp and strong. Drakkar is strong too, but much more smooth. I see no relevance though when comparing, other than the fact that they are both powerhouses.
In terms of smell.. I would compare Drakkar more to like BHPC Red, Rive Gauche, Escada pH. Where as, I would compare Aramis more to Azzaro pH, BHPC Giorgio BH.
I love them both.. but i would apply them differently depending on the occasion hence I didn't vote.
Aramis for casual day to day basis, fantastic stuff. But If i'm out on a date/dinner i will stick to Drakkar, fantastic for night outings, women 30+ love that stuff.
Aramis for me. I've tried an older bottle of Drakkar Noir, so I can't be sure if the juice was 100% in top condition, and, whilst not bad, I didn't really find it all that enjoyable.
Drakkar Nior by a hair...
Aramis is patchouli bomb. Drakkar Noir is lavender and mossy heaven. I like opening of Aramis, but then it goes wrong.
I prefer Aramis. It's a more emotional scent for me. Drakkar is something I expect to find in car fresheners.
My vote was for DK
1. Dior Homme Original
2. Musc Ravaguer
3. Portrait of a Lady
4. Noir de Noir
5. L Instant Guerlain pour Homme Extreme
6. New Haarlem
7. Pure Coffee
8. Blu Mediterraneo Sicilian Almond
9. Rose 31
10. Spiritueuse Double Vanille
Aramis is the worst fragrance ever created, smells like dog urine, so Drakkar Noir wins by default.
