Default My Lavender is gone...just, gone

The first fragrance I purchased for myself was a little bottle of lavender water from a Crabtree & Evelyn store at the mall; I was 15.

In the decades since (ahem) this simple little fragrance has never let me down. As I grew older, I tried more sophisticated fragrances, but always returned to my lavender. Now it's gone. Discontinued. Vanished. I actually cried, and left an insane message with the customer service department.

I need expert advice. What is the closest product I will find to replace it?

    Thank you

I haven't smelled the Crab T & E one in a long time but other good lavender-prominent perfumes I suggest are:

    Lavender Palm - Tom Ford
    Jersey - Chanel

Two slightly more difficult to attain"

    Fourrea Noir - Serge Lutens
Encens et lavand - Serge Lutens

    for swap/sale:

Hi Lost Lavender and welcome to Basenotes!

Now and then these older, discontinued fragrances appear on eBay. You might want to create a search for it and then save the search so that you get emails from eBay if one is listed. Use search terms like "Crabtree Evelyn Lavender Vintage".

However if you want to try to find a new lavender to replace it, I'm sure you can find many suggestions here. I've used the Search feature to locate threads that have "Lavender" in the title:

I haven't smelled the Crabbie but if you don't want to use ebay, DR Harris do a very nice one in the same genre:

Not familiar with the one you mention, but perhaps Lavande by Fragonard might work.

I have not tried that lavender but can recommend Caldey Island Lavender as a replacement.

def. try the Caldey. Also, Yardley English Lavender is quite nice.

I haven't smelled the C&E Lavender that you used, which preceded the Lavender Water one currently on eBay, but here are a few remarks that may provide information you can use in deciding what to test:

Lavande by Fragonard starts off lavender but soon switches to a sort of cherry/almond.
Caldey Island Lavender is very musky.
Woods of Windsor Lavender is a bit like the Caldey but more woods, less musk.
Yardley English Lavender is more floral now than it was "back in the day". You like like the vintage splash bottles sometimes listed on eBay.

You can also buy lavender essential oil and make up your own uncomplicated lavender water....I have Oshadhi Highland Lavender (see Oshadhi website) and have mixed it with grain alcohol and a bit of distilled water for a nice simple lavender spray. (The water made it cloudy though; could try skipping the water.)

Your plight was addressed, back in 2011, somewhat unfruitfully, here: http://www.basenotes.net/threads/274...s-discontinued
