Default Azzaro Pour Homme Projection and Longevity

I am considering getting myself a bottle of Azzaro pour homme, but am concerned about the projection and longevity. Would like to know your feedback. Thanks!

When compared to the vintage stuff, ya there is a difference. But also, in smell. the vintage formula is much sharper, the current formulation is pretty smooth. Some sharpness nonetheless from the oakmoss, anise and spices, yet still very smooth. Unbelievably well blended and balanced, and extremely masculine. Projection on me is very good, and longevity is about 8 hours usually, though with my vintage sample, it lasted a lot longer, projected far more, but was also not as well blended as it is now. My skin holds fragrances pretty well because it's somewhat oily, so I get good longevity from most fragrances really. If you're a noob to the frag game, remember though, a fragrance will never project as much in the dry down as it does in the opening.

A very agreeable fragrance. I would put it at medium on the projection and longevity scales.

Thanks for your detailed reply. I was wondering whether this fragrance has a longevity of more than 4-5 hours or not. I have access only to the modern version.

In both formulations, projection and longevity may qualify as ranging anywhere from above average too strong/very strong (or, depending on the perspective, should you, you peers, your interactions, your circle of friends and/acquaintances like stronger scents, good to very good). This being said, almost any wearer of this scents is more likely to be told Azzaro pour Homme is too strong and too long lasting, rather than get complaints for vapidness, poor longevity, airiness etc. of this fragrance.

For me the current formulation is weak in both departments.

How does the lavender note compare with Rive Gauche? (I ask because I can find Azzaro very cheap here, but it would have to be a blind buy).

Agreed. A great frangrance, but rather weak. I understand they have an "Intense" version designed to address these very issues, but it is hard to find. That they even have a stronger version suggests they are aware of the problems with projection and longevity.

I find it moderate in projection and longevity. Projection is dependent on application. Longevity is acceptable for me, but not outstanding.

It's old school, but not necessarily a powerhouse.

My bottle is about 5 years old -- I have no idea how that relates to the current or original formulations.
Just because it happened to you doesn't make it interesting.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Medium longevity and sillage. Still fantastic in terms of smell.

For better results i recommend you Rive Gauche Pour Homme.

I can't believe I am saying this but I think in this case of reformulation for Azzaro was good thing. I have read alot of comments on the vintage and even though I have never smelled the vintage I just bought the new formula and I am loving it. Smooth, masculine, just the way a MAN should smell. Longevity on me is good too. It may not project like a monster but I think it projects just enough to get noticed and I think it's a good thing. Some houses do poor reformulations of their fragrances but I think Azzaro did great with theirs.

    Hi alll,

bumping a slightly old thread here.

I have the version in my photos below, and I must be one of the unlucky ones. The smell is fantastic, but I get low projection and longevity.

I did end up purchasing a bottle, and I get moderate projection and longevity. However, there is an intense version which I plan to check out sometime.

    Thanks for that freewheelingvagabond.

I used to own a bottle in the late 80's / early 90's. My memory is probably not all that reliable, but I remember it being stronger back then.

At any rate, your reply is reassuring.

    Thanks

On my skin - whole day longevity and great projection for 10 hours, then moderate projection for the next 4 hours

I think it's a very nice fragrance. I get average projection and longevity from my older bottle (silver and black sticker).

I'd also like to try the intense version.

For me, moderate/average projection, fairly good longevity and "up close" it usually draws positive reactions

  32. #32

Default Re: Azzaro Pour Homme Projection and Longevity

I get average projection for a couple of hours and then it becomes a little faint. Longevity is pretty decent 6-8 hours, but with a very generous application (6-8 sprays). Love the scent and wish it was a bit stronger. This is the one fragrance I have that could compel me to try a product like concrete or some other fixative.

I get pretty decent longevity about 10 hours or more, but it becomes skin scent very early after about 2-3 hours!
My current top 10 (with no particular order):
    Givenchy Xeryus Rouge
    Dior Homme Intense
    Dior Fahrenheit
    Costume National Scent Intense
    Terre d'Hermes EDT
    CK Eternity for Men
    Creed Aventus
YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme (Old Tin Can)
    Thierry Mugler Pure Malt
    Costume National Homme
