Good morning all! Spent most of the day in front of the TV watching London Olympic Games. Had a couple of spritz of Aromatics Elixir by Clinique - very uplifting and and aromatic indeed!

    Good morning all!

I am going to a Summer Fete at the local Nursing Home today
to meet the husband of a lady, who I have befriended through
my work with Age U.K. He was a Lancaster Bomber Navigator
Pilot so I am looking forward to talking to him.

I shall wear an "oldie" but "goodie" - Arpege.

Then it will be back to more of the Olympics.

I've been on a kayak trip yesterday so it was a perfume-free day.
Today I'm in Yardley Iris Lavender, courtesy of a generous Basenoter. Really like this one.
Also wearing another two Rosines from Pass the sample pack I've got.
    Have a good day!

I GOT A POSTCARD FROM CAMILLE GOUTAL! I'M AMAZED!

Sleepily blotted on some vintage Rochas Byzance, which I bought for the pretty bottle and the hints of pure incense. If I had been hungover, this would either be a snap cure or a stomach turner. So harsh and deep. When tuberose is so waxy as it is in Byzance I'm insta-repelled, but in Fracas it's pure butter and boldness and in original Chloe so cutely soapy. I think I'm only one for pre-80s tuberose, when it was a bit more herbal or perfumey and not a diva of the tropics. Whew. Whitefluffy very kindly sent me a selection of tuberose-related samples recently, and similarly to her, this note just isn't working for me. I love it in the bottle or on paper, but on my skin it actually feels overwhelmingly sticky. Shame about all of this, as the drydown of Byzance is quite nice once the tuberose leaves, and I love a good strong incense perfume still. Coming to my sudden appreciation for perfume as I have only this last summer, Byzance and other 80s types that eluded me might do well come winter.

Good morning friends, I'm glad that basenotes is finally back up and running. Today I am in Vetiver Guerlain. A favorite for me. I hope everyone has a great one. Here is a picture of a new pitcher opening up. In a few days she will be gobbling up from the buffet of mosquitos here in the swamp.

Lucasai, if that is my Yardley, it's just called Iris. No lavender. Would like to get a sniff of Iris & Lavender one of these days, too.

In Piguet's Calypso today, the re-issue. Have a great day, all!

That's nice! I got a signed card from Frederic Malle when I sent away for a few samples (a few years ago now). I had taken a quiz on his website to decide which ones to sample. I thought that was very sweet. I like him.

I'm wearing a spritz of Annick Goutal Musc Nomade today.

Musc Nomade? How is it? I tried Myrrhe Ardente and Ambre Fetiche but I didn't like them that much as other Goutals

Good afternoon all. Done a it of sampling today. Lure sent to me by a kind BNer in the East. Unfortunately I seem to be anosmic to what should be a summer worthy berry floral but all I get is mild musky soap.

The afternoon has brought sampling of SL Jeax de Peau somehow this is not yet coming together for me. I'm getting brioche with sweetened lemon peel but the syrup is sitting solidly on top of the confection at the moment rather than lushly sinking in.

It is a soft, clean, and woodsy musk, to my nose, and not particularly animalic. I like it very much. I haven't tried the others you mention.

It has been a really slow start this morning, but I finally decided to wear Royal Bain de Champagne. It appears to be a "vintage" bottle, as the label still carries the Champagne name, but I can't find it online to date it! It is the peppercorn bottle style and came in a white box with grey dots. Hmmm, will have to research more.

    Happy Sunday, everyone!

    Good evening everyone.

Went to Greenwich Park to see the Equestrian Event and Dressage and wore Carnal Flower for the occasion. Afterwards my daugther and I went back Covent Garden to sample some fragrances at Jo Malone. Since Carnal Flower got washed away in the rain, I gave Vanilla & Anise a try. I'm liking it quite a bit, which is surprising, since I normally don't do well with JM fragrances.

It's been an exhilarating but exhausting few days of participating as a spectator in the Olympic events and am looking forward to going home tomorrow!

Congrats to G 303 and Hedonist for their lovely contributions to Basenotes !!!!!!! many hugs !

This afternoon I'm in a scent that has sentimental value to it - Chloe by Chloe . The rose scent with the elegant bottle . I do love this perfume even though it has been panned 1 star by Mr. Burr and disliked by Octavian .
Just good memories attached to it .

One more wearing, and my bottle will be gone. I will have to replace it - I love this stuff too much.
"The beginning of freedom is the realization that you are not the "thinker." The moment you start watching the thinker, a higher level of consciousness becomes activated. You then begin to realize that there is a vast realm of intelligence beyond thought, that thought is only a tiny aspect of that intelligence.
