Eternity. I still remember getting this as a Christmas gift that year. Man I loved that stuff.

Either English Leather (one of those little plastic bottles that fit into Christmas stockings) or Jovan Musk Oil (again, a little bottle in a stocking).

I don't remember which I received first. I eventually acquired a larger bottle of EL "All Purpose Lotion"

Joop! Homme is the first fragrance I distinctly remember smelling from a sample. The first fragrances I remember owning was a Calvin Klein miniature set that included; Escape, Eternity, CK One, CK Be, and Obsession.

First cologne I ever got was a hand-me-down from my grandfather when I was in high school - Hanae Mori HM. He always wore cologne and passed it on to me because he didn't like it that much. I vaguely remember liking it but mostly wore Axe body spray at the time.

First one I bought for myself was Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce freshman year of college, back in 2005 when that smell was ubiquitous. In Seattle there's an A&F store directly above one of the downtown transit stations; I swear they used to pump that smell into the vents from the store above.

Now that I'm thinking about it and memories are coming back to me, after my kids Avon cologne, my first men's scent I ever got was a Christmas gift from an Aunt. Iron. I never liked the smell of it but I used it because it was all I had at the time. And that shiny, slick metal cap was a pain to unscrew.

I'm pretty sure it was Hollister Jake when I was like 12 years old or so. They sprayed it all over the clothes at Hollister and it smelled really good.

My first colognes were small bottles of things like English Leather, British Sterling, Old Spice, maybe Brut which were stocking stuffer gifts given to me by my grandmother at Christmas. My first real cologne that I chose was Halston 101 back in 1984 when I was 15. A friend of mine in class who had good style wore it. After I smelled it a few times I had to ask what he was wearing. It will probably never happen but if EA brought it back I would buy the instant it was available.

I came in here looking to see if 7 years ago when this was originally posted if the OP would be snarked for calling his fragrances "colognes." The answer is no, I find that interesting.

I was 8 years old and the fragrance was Avon's Wild Country. Was gifted it by a family friend that was an Avon rep, and the rest was history. I didn't get crazy with a larger collection until much later in life though.

I received Versace - Eau Fraiche as a gift a few years ago in high school. Barely ever wore it. Then I got Dior Sauvage and Versace Eros for Christmas my first year in college. Fell in love with fragrances at that point and now I own close to 40 bottles!

Aside from an aftershave or 2 and a few low priced but nice colognes, the first one I got for myself was Joop Homme.Big mistake. To this day I will never even look at a fragrance made by Joop,I don't care how good it may be.

Excluding stuff I used to borrow from my Father such as Denim, Brut and Blue Stratos. Jazz was the first fragrance I ever bought. I saved up my paper round money. I was about 14 so would have been 90/91. My best friend was gifted a bottle from his Dad and the girls at school went mad for it so it was an easy purchase for me. I really enjoyed it back then. I bought Kuoros and Fahrenhiet later that same year.
